Hello mothers:) How much milk (full cream) is more than enough for a 3 yr old in a day? I feel like my boy drinks more milk and so is fussy when it comes to eating (almost 600ml and that doesn't include horlicks... 200 ml). Y'day i gave only 150 ml in the morning (with horlicks mixed) after breakfast and then once at bedtime and realised his lunch and dinner went very well. Any idea? Latha

I'm yet to try kanji mix for my boy. Should ask my mom to bring it. because there are days when he's too tired to have dinner and then keeps on waking up. Latha

Latha..i would say about 500 ml for the whole day including Horlicks and things like that. You're right in thinkng that too much spoils the appetite for solids. Vanathi.

Yeah, cant afford to keep them on empty stomach. They will keep crying and waking up. I still have some kanji stocked up for emergencies. Days she decides not to eat anything at all I give her this kanji mix. Sometimes when she is sick or has puked and I feel there is nothing in her stomach, I give her this mix.

Hi ladies, I dont have any answer for your question...instead I have a question. My little one (27 months) drinks very little milk...I'm concerned and feel that I should give her more...but time is not suiting. She has only 1 glass of milk with horlicks in the morning by 9 AM. She likes milk, its just that the timings doesn't match, either she would be sleeping or it wud be lunch/snack time...so no milk! This is her daily charter - 9AM horlicks, 9-45 am breakfast, 12 fruit, 2 or 3 pm lunch, 5 pm snack, 8-30 or 9 pm dinner. I try to fit in milk after dinner...but she sleeps off. Hardly once or twice in a week does she take milk after dinner. We add ghee to all her feeds and curd rice is also there, but I sometimes feel that her calcium intake is less! Any suggestions?? thanks, Hema

Hi Hemchi, Here is how you can alter the schedule a bit. After 12 noon fruits, give her lunch from 12.30-1.30, then for evening snacks, reduce the amount of snacks and instead give her 3/4 glass of milk at 4 pm. Then start with her dinner at 7.30-8.00 pm. by 9.00 pm you can give her another glass of milk. Hope this helps. Teju

| Hi Hemchi, Teju is right. This is my son's milk/horlicks timing. 7 am (he's early riser) with breakfast, 3-4 pm with snack (rusk, fruit, muffin, cake or something like that) and 8.30 (bedtime). until 6 months back he used to have milk at around 10.30 too (mid-morning snack) but i stopped it because that interfered with his lunch.
