    Hi Swaran,
    You can see lot of toys named for 1 year old, which is meant for developing their skills. I used to buy that. You can also gift fancy photo album/frame with funny pictures for keeping the kids photos as sweet memories.

    Dear friends...i have purchased the gifts...actually i started late from office hence could not roam around shops to choose from various toys(actually i wanted to do so)....i bought these for the kid since the choice was little difficult for a boy in that particular fancy shop
    (1)A small chair which makes a beep sound when the kid would sit on it(around 220Rs)
    (2)A big stack ring toy which has lot of rings of different sizes and colours to put in a pole (around Rs 140)
    (3)one ABC and numbers-small cardboard kind of books which dont get torn easily(around Rs 60)

    so thanks a lot for all the friends who had given suggestions........:)
