Question Eggs for a 2yr old

Hi,

My daughter Shreya loves eggs a lot though she is fussy about other foods.
I started giving her boiled eggs - daily 1/2 right from her 6 months.
After a year I started to give her omlette and sometimes boiled egg too.

But I am worried about cholesterol levels. How frequently can I give her eggs? Any suggestions?

Default 4 to 5 eggs a week

Akila,

Don't worry about cholesterol levels for the kids. Atleast till 15 yrs cholesterol levels do not matter.

You can feed her upto 4 to 5 eggs a week. Should not be a problem. But try to balance with good amount of vegetables too.

Akila,

It's the egg yolk that is high in FAT, too much which leads to cholesterol problems. Give ONLY egg white (high in Protein) for your kid, if you are so concerned.

But as mentioned by Amudha, it should not be a big factor affecting kids.
