Thumbs up Re: Temples in Chennai

Hi

As such I do not have much info about that temple. I shall find out and let you know.
I learnt today that it is opposite to Agasithya Nadi Josiyam in Mogappair.

Any further information from residents of Mogappair is most welcome.

Cheers
Jenz

Thumbs up Re: Temples in Chennai

Hi,

Here are some details about "Kanaka Durga Temple" in Mogappair.
It is in Kalamegam Salai, Mogappair West.

It has vigrahas of following deities:
Ganesh
Mahalakshmi
Bhuvaneswari
Saraswathi
Valli & Deivanai with Murugan
Sivalingam
Saptha Kannigal
Kali (some version of Kali - don't know what it is)
Perumal
Panchamuga Anjaneyar

And of course the main vigraha is Kanaka Durga.

Route to this temple:
From Thirumangalam, left turn towards mogappair. Keep driving down until you reach a junction of 4 roads - where Left leads to Mogappair west & Right to Ambattur Estate. [In today's case, the newly laid roads ends at this junction].

Keep driving further down (beyond the crossing) towards the next 4 road junction. On to your left (in the direction of driving) you will see buildings of HCL technologies, Mercedes Benz and then Concorde Motors.
Soon after these buildings, you will come across the 4 road junction. Take a left here. This street is called as Kamaraj Salai [Another land mark on this left is Nagavalli koil on the right side of the Kamaraj Salai].

Drive down Kamaraj Salai and turn in the second right lane (Kalamegam Salai). The temple is in this lane. There are two temples in this lane - second one is Kanaka Durga temple.

Cheers
Jenz

Hi ILites,

I may sound really ignorant, but what is the speciality of Kanaka Durga? Has anyone posted a photo for view? Am really keen to see Her.

Hello,
During this Navarathri, the Shree Vaishnavi Devi will adorned as Sri Annapoorni on 06/10/08. There is no separate Annapoorni deity in the temple.
And Jenz, thanks for the details of the Kanaga Durga temple. The second junction after the Estate entrance is called Vavin Junction. Would like to visit that temple one of these days.
