Default Shocking judgement by Supreme Court

Hi friends,
have u all gone through the dailies of today,05th Aug,2009. There is a
news in which the Supreme Court has given judgement in a particular case, which gives some shocking judgements as under :
1. A mother-in-law can beat or even stamp her daughter-in-law with her
legs. This is not an offence under the IPC.
2. A mother-in-law or husband of a woman can threaten her that she will
be chased away through a divorce.this is not an offence.
3. A mother-in-law can tease her daughter-in-law.If she gives her daughter-in-law, old torn clothes of hers, and forces her to wear it or
compels her for other things like this, this is not an offence. The court cannot punish for the abovementioned activities or the like.

I was very shocked to go through the news. After so much of struggle in
the past decades, women have got the freedom that we enjoy today. This
day,we are fighting for further more freedom and women's representation
in all fields. It is unfair on the part of the supreme court to give such irresponsible judgement. If at all there has been no provision in the Indian
penal code till date to punish the abovementioned activities, they have to be immediately enacted. there is not even the basic humanity in this judgement. it has not been considered that it is all about the mind and soul of a woman, who is also a human with all the 6 senses. Are we going
back to the stone age ? hi IL friends, please post your views and comments to his thread of mine.
Fondly,
ganapriya

Default Re: Shocking judgement by Supreme Court

Please..

Let's not mislead and try to spread rumors that now violence is Ok'ed by the supreme court.

Read what SC did

"Allegations that appellant No 2 (mother-in-law) kicked the respondent (daughter-in-law) with her leg and told her that her mother is a liar may make out some other offences but not the one punishable under Section 498A.

SC has said that it cannot come under 498A, that's it. The wife has to file the appropriate that is all.

Let's not try to spread that it's LEGAL now to harass the wife. NO IT IS NOT.
