What If your name is not there is the voter's list??Where to go??

Hi,
We(My Mother-IN-lAW,My husband and me) wanted to vote .when we go,we realized that are names are not present.Kamalahassan,Shah Rukh are few other people whose names were not present in the voter's list too.Kamalahassan,I believe fought for it but was sent back disappointed.I hope,we get the name added atleast for the state elections...
Can anybody suggest what a person should do if he/she finds that the name is not included in the list???Nobody came with a slip to our house regarding the name list also.
When India wants to be awake(I like the ad -jago..re...),people want u to sleep.

please contact your local Electoral authority and get your name enlisted / corrected asap .

[ following might appear as sarcasm . And I feel it as true ]

Election Commission of India had made arrangements to publish voters list on internet .
All State Governments were asked to put the data on the state website . And Election
Commission of India had advertised several times on print media and electronic media
that all citizens must check the voters list and make a complaint if the name is missing .
An application form was made available for applying online ... ... ...

if we are unaware of the above things although we regularly use internet , television , mobile
... etcetra then we also do not know what to do if our name is missing from the voters list .
