Hi Nav preet, Today only I saw your request. Try and Give me a FB. ok? Here we go. 1. Besan Ki Burfi 1 cup besan flour 1 cup sugar 1cup shortening 1/4 sp. cardamom powders 1/2 cup walnuts broken into small pieces (optional) Melt shortening in a pan. Turn down heat and add cardamom and Besan. Fry, stirring constantly to prevent burning until it has changed color to light brown and smells done. (Test: a few drops of water sprinkled on the goo splutters instantly). Turn off heat and stir in sugar and the nuts. Spread on a platter 1/2" thick. Cut into diamond shapes after it has cooled down. 2. Besan ka burffy Ingredients besan - 1 cup milk powder - 1 cup ghee - 1 cup sugar - 1 & half cup Method: Firstly, melt ghee. Then put besan in ghee & fry it till a nice smell comes. Take this mixture in another vessel & mix it with milk powder. Now make a sugar syrup till it becomes thick (if we put a little syrup in little water then it becomes round) after that put the besan mixture in sugar syrup & stir it, till it does not stick to the sides of the vessel. Then put this in a greased plate & cut this into pieces in the shape of diamonds, when it is hot only. All the best. ![]() Last edited by krishnaamma; 30th August 2007 at 01:59 AM.

Thx for receipe Krishnamma but i'm having a question before trying it: Will it work without sugar syrup means sugar will start crystillizing if heated for more time. Please help me to remove my doubt as i am eager to try this receipe. thx once again!

Hi Navpreet, I dont know why you are not getting. You try by powdering the sugar. so that it will dissolve quickly. OK?

Dear Navpreet, Thank you for your mail. I think, if you prepare chirta's version, the taste will be more because of milk. Any how you are satisified with the sweet. That is enough for me. ![]()

| hi Krishnaamma, Read your recipe of Besan Ki barfi. What is shortening?? I am very naive with sweet dishes so I may throw such queries, please do not make fun of me? And thank you very much for explaining the THICK SYRUP FUNDA. The reason for me not trying out sweet dishes is cause I do not know when the syrup is done. Thick, thin, one finger, two finger, how to judge it... I appreciate your mention here that when a drop of sugar syrup is dropped in water it turns out in to a round ball, then the thick syrup is done. Have i understood it correctly, if yes, then I will try and make this sweet... I will PRAY FOR MYSELF............
