| | Do you use iGoogle?
Dear IL'ites,
Do any of you use iGoogle (the customized Google page)? If so, how long have you been using it? Do you find it useful or is it something that is just cool without much value-add?
Would you see value in an Indusladies widget (popular threads or popular blog entries etc) which you can add to your iGoogle page or would you rather come to www.indusladies.com and read whatever interests you?

Hello, Induslady
I use iGoogle and I love it. It is my homepage, and I've downloaded widgets for the time (in all the different countries where I have family, which helps, because I am easily confused by time zones!), currency conversion, the news headlines, and the weather report. I like that I can customize it to suit me, that they offer some great themes (a type of wallpaper - I have the earth-light one which I love), and of course, that my favourite search engine is readily available to me as well.
It's very useful to me, and I don't see it as just another internet gimmick or waste of time. I'd like to see an IndusLadies widget on iGoogle, especially if I'd be able to customize it to suit me - for example, if I could receive notification of new posts for threads I'm interested in. This would allow me to see if there's anything of interest, and then log onto the Indusladies website if something catches my eye.
The only problem I have with iGoogle is now I have to log on to it every time I close the window. Before, I remained logged in all the time. I think this happened after there was a scare about widgets potentially being unsafe (viruses etc.) because many of the widgets available for iGoogle are from different sources (not created by Google). Other than that, I really enjoy iGoogle and it's added to the efficiency with which I use the internet.
I hope this helps!
Ansuya

I have been using iGoogle from past 2 years now and I totally love it. Its my homepage now.
I think it is a good idea to create indus lady widget on iGoogle. I actually dont visit IL everyday. I have subscribed it on Google Reader. As soon as the topics are updated, I get to read it on my Google reader. Its more helpful if it is on my homepage.
Hope to see IL soon on my homepage! |

Ansuya, Pink,
This is precisely the type of feedback we need from you all. Very clear and descriptive. This is very helpful. Thank you so much for this.
Now, if we were to design an iGoogle gadget, what would you like to see in that? Popular thread or recent threads? From all sub-forums or only a select few? 10 threads or 50 threads? What about blog entries? Give me a little more help here by sharing your ideas on this. Lets build this gadget together:)

I also think that an Indusladies widget is a great idea to personalize my experience.

Everyday morning, I don't have to go to 10 websites individually. All of them are there in one place - iGoogle. Quote:

I also think that an Indusladies widget is a great idea to personalize my experience. As Indusladies grow, it is hard to keep tracking of everything and sort out what is relevant. A customizable widget would be ideal. Quote:

Till the time this widget is available, Google Reader would be a great solution. Can you tell me the steps to set that up? Thank you. |

1. Goto http://reader.google.com
2. If you open the page in Firefox, you can see "subscribe to this page" in the bookmarks section, click on it and you can subscribe it on Google reader.
If you are an Internet Explorer user, Im sure they will have omething similiar to this.

I think it is a good idea to include Popular threads. Give an option for both 10 threads and 50, some people want to keep the app smaller, for others like me, 50 is a good idea
Or you could just give the heading of all major forums so that people can click and goto specific ones.
If you have the option of showing sub-forums when you click the main ones, it will be even more nice
Hope it helps.
