Default Regarding the status of 'New' member

As per the guidelines any member is supposed to be 'New' as long as the number of posts are less than 50. But New has a literal meaning to it. There are so many members who are quite old (who joined in 2005 or 2006) and still have less than 50 posts. But their status is still 'New'.
I was initially thinking that 'new' stands for the time period with which a member is associated with IL. Was confused until I read the Guidelines.
Can you modify this? For example: A new member's status should remain new for say 6 months, after that the status should change. Its like creating a new status for members who are literally old but have less than 50 posts.
Thanks and Regards
Teju

Teju - as you had concluded, the "new" member status is not based on time - it is based on the number of posts. I am sure you would have seen the latest announcement made by the administrators about the member status and the privileges that go along with it. I hope this will help explain why we have it set up this way. It is to encourage people to participate more in this forum and thereby get more privileges.

This is so true i have been a member for some time now but never really took the time to fully participate -as there was so much to read and then it was time to go get something done. But then the actual spirit of the community fails when we fail to participate and now with the targets to reach it has become quite interesting, that you have to participate to be a member. Thats a wonderful idea as most of us are passive observers in life. Its like don't take things for granted - Indus ladies is like a good friend you tend to take for granted -she will be there - but now its like if you dont care for her you will loose out.
I am glad to be finally vocal - i never thought i could do it but i am and enjoying it.

So see you all around and lets talk to each other and get the privilages of this lovely community

NKumar,

You are not banned. Not sure how you came to that conclusion. Your posts are not showing in the forum because you are trying to promote your blog through your one line contributions. Make a contribution with the intent of participating - than promoting - and you will have no issues. Thanks.
