AC,
Nice one. And the help from Above was great for viji. I can vouch for that because i have seen veda's guru suffer from alzhemeir's. within a span of few years, it became so difficult for him to recognise us. though he used to say our names, he could not relate them to us. his son had a very tough time, with our guru blaming his GD as a robber....really tough time for the family.
Now I have my very close friends FIL, going through the same. I friend is abroad and can only talk to MIL once in a while. I make it a point to talk to them every other day to make them feel we are there with them....
Any illness is bad. but with Alzheimer's when you forget to identify your own children, and you look at your own children as enemies is too much for the families concerned...
You are becoming a great story teller... |

Dear AC,
I was really bowled over by your narration. My throat had choked ..............yes very true God is there to help us. This you have brought it out ver beautifully and strongly. Great going dear !!!!!!!!
I can understand and completely agree with the narration. My sil's only child was on death bed and all the resources had exhausted and the father refused to shell out more money saying it was waste and the hospital bills were on a raise.......... but we knew his death was evident but not sure when as he had an incurable lung disease. We could not say anything. The husband and wife's (sil) relationship was becoming worse day by day and the strain on us also was more......... More to all was the child's suffering on ventilator......... but after a few days, God gave the call putting a full stop on the child's agony..... His ways are strange !

I read till the end without stopping to breathe.Thankfully it was a fiction.
You have rightly brought out the emotions that a child fights with when away from aged parents.Like making calls daily and then that number of calls dwindling when assurance steps in regarding their comfort..... ..
Great narration yaar...
And sorry to know about Alzhemeir's ...I pray that nobody get to suffer it....
Bye | Dear Saraswathi
Its one of the perils of children living far away especially daughters. We cannot always rush to be with our parents. Most times they would refuse to come be with us too. We will be caught in the distance and our responsibilty and obligations to our parents and on the other side to our families.
Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot to me:)

I have told many of my friends in times of despair who have questioned HIS existence in time of trials, "Do not ever let off HIS lotus feet!. For HE knows what is best for us. If something bad has happened, it is not without HIS knowledge. And if HE has let it happen, HE knows best."
To this they would reply," It is easy to say all this. Only when you are in our situation, you will realise how difficult it is to believe in HIM when HE has let us down." But then when all the powers in this world of which our EGO is the most powerful has not been able to help us in a trying time, where else can we take refuge but our CREATOR?
I believe that only our faith protects and nothing else. In our times of distress, if we are a non believer, we have no place to seek comfort. At the human level, friends would empathise with us and then seek leave to take care of their own problems. Then we are left alone to fend for ourselves. Unless we believe in a superior power during such times, there is every possibility of falling into a depressive state of mind.
It is nice to have trustworthy people like the maid in the story around who brought along another loyal person to take care of the father. I believe that the human values and the kind of relationship that we have with the people working for us is more important than how much we pay them. Money does not always help.
The loss of our parents is indeed a very great loss for all of us, which cannot be compensated for.
Love,
Malathi | Dear Malathi
I am sure you remember the story in Mahabharat where Draupadi opens up her arms to scream the name of Lord Krishna while her saree was being removed forcibly.. and you know the rest. From what I have heard of this story Lord Krishna waited to help Draupadi till the moment she totally surrendered.
It is of my opinion that one has to first become a beliver of God and then get ready to face the trials . One cannot start thinking of God after we are faced in trials. The seed or thought should exist prior. Just my opinion.
As always its been a sweet treat reading your reply and am glad you wrote in:)

Thanks for you having considered me an elite writer. But more than the writer, it is the writings that matter, be it Tom, Dick or Harry. If somebody's writing has impressed me, I try to put in my honest comments in that thread. Some times due to paucity of time, and if already there are a lot of fbs, I feel it does not matter if I do not leave one. But if I find some ones article/write up very nice and has been left unnoticed, I post in my fb so that it gets noticed. I do not go by the writer but his/her writings and all iltes seem to be so. That has been the success of this Website.

No problem. If it would make you feel better I wrote thinking of my late in laws. I am their daughter too and I was only one who called them amma and appa. Though it did not happen like in story the essence was the same and the loss to.
Thank you for your kind words:)

But at the point it increases the spirit of reader suffering from his/her own problems and giving them hope that there is a light at the end of tunnel. Its one of sufferings many NRI's undergo because parents stay away and if they are sick we will not be near them to take care. Its a very sensitive topic and you have handled it well by having a supporting husband character. Help from above title is not that strong for this particular story .The content is very emotional .I really enjoyed reading it.
Thanks
Mangai | Hi Mangai
Pleasant surprise dear. I know how it is for us since we are far away. Sometimes have to face comments from relatives too.
BTW there is light at the end of the tunnel!

Dear AC,
This is probably my first ever communication to you, though i read through your posts and FBs. I very rarely post comments for any stories unless I'm very deeply moved by it.. To you, i would only like to thank-you for posting the last few words " This is a fiction".. I could not have handled it if this was a true story..

Dear dear AC,
That was a wonderful story, though it sounded so real! The way you built it up and the characterization of Mother , so calm and Father like a Small Child.......SO SWEET though Sad! But you are really getting to be so good. i hope you are compiling all these stories....you can publish them soon!
I am looking forward to them now....just one request , make it on some fixed days, so i can know when you write.....otherwise when i don't log in for a day also, i miss so much and i have to run helter and skelter!
