When my heart missed a beat....


That was one hell of a day at office. Was I tired..i felt like a nice hot bath a nice book and a jug of some cool drink. I was tired to cook up something or go out to get dinner. Just as I entered he lay sprawled on the floor. I was shocked to see him that way. His eyes closed. Was he breathing? His vomit and shit repulsed but I had to get some help or ….the thought that I might loose him made me rush to the phone to see if the doc was in.
Luckily Dr. Snarl Rajaram was working late as his assistant told me.. (His name sure made everyone wonder. Maybe it was his nickname. I had little time to ponder) i pulled a shawl from the almirah bundled him vomit smell and all and shoved him on the back seat of my car. It took a little over an hour to reach his clinic. we had recently shifted house and the new house was far away from people whom we were used to like shops, clinics etc.
When they wheeled him in, my heart took a beating. His face looked lost, eyes closed and saliva dripping from his open mouth. I paced the floor. Prayed to all the deities that were hung up on the wall. (I had little faith in them before. But now I prayed lord please help him to come back alive. I can’t do without him. Promise…!!I will pray, place flowers and learn a few chants.) The attendant hurried past this way and that just like in the movies but refused to say little. It was almost an hour when Dr rajaram (I dare not call him snarl too…?lest he take offence and refuse to help at this hour) came out with a beaming smile. `You can see him’ he said. Was I glad….!!! I rushed in and there lay my darling pet, my love, my …oh call him what you will….thumping his bushy tail on the table… his eyes alert and full of love..!!!!

I can imagine what you must have gone through .

When Joshua was a just a little more than a year old , he ran out the gate which was partially open and boldly met the huge German shepherd who stays on the next street.. (right from day one they have been snarling at each other . )

Joshua was all of 1 ft tall and weighed 12 kgs and this guy is around 50 kgs.. He pushed Joshua on the ground and stood over him snarling .. Neither his keeper nor could I do anything .. except scream and shout and cry.. finally Joshua managed to wriggle out and ran into the house .. he didnt allow any of us to come near him.. he was bleeding from a huge cut on his front legs.. it took me twenty minutes to coax him to come to me .I bundled him and took an auto and ran to the vet . fortunately , the vet was available and after half an hour he told me .. he will be alright in ten days.. dont worry ..

God wasnt I relieved !
