Episode 16


The day started as usual for Tara. She was busy getting ready for office. She had to drop the kids in school before she leaves to work. Neeraj had already left. He was busy at one deployment and the day is gonna be a long one for him. He called Tara and asked her to take the kids for shopping and purchase few clothes for his parents and Reeta.

Tara was in a happy mood. She is having a huge and a lovely family who are waiting to welcome her. These 7 years was a life of loneliness. It filled her only with Neeraj and Kids. She didnt have any one that close whom she she can share her feeling and inner voice kept torturing her for she was reluctant to even listen and wait for Tarun.

The shopping took a very long time and it was more than what she had expected. She had called her inlaws asking them what they wanted. That was the first time she called them in these 6 years of her married life. Her laws left it with her to choose her own set of clothes and also asked her to get everything on her own likings. Neeraj had called her and told that he would be late. He was stuck in the office and was sure that it will really take a long time for him to come home.

She didnt wait for him though. First she started buying clothes for the kids and Neeraj. When she was done, she called Arjun and he picked up the call in the first ring," Anni. Yes. ,....... o yeah.. Any thing........ Hmm, my favourite is blue......... hmm.. she is in the operation theatre.... yeah.... kurta's should be fine...... " he hung up. Tara was confident that what ever she purchased, her family is going to love it. So with that confidence she started piling up new set of clothes for all of them.

It was already 8pm and they finished their dinner. She ensured that kids were safe in their rooms and she went to her balcony. That was her most favorite place in the entire house. She prepared her favorite filter coffee and sat on the couch, sipping her coffee.

The days had been so pleasant. Neeraj has been a wonderful husband anyone would ever think of. He had never raised his voice again any one so far. She came to New York 7 years ago. She believed that she was betrayed and cheated by her boyfriend. She was pregnant when she left Chennai. She wanted to communicate the wonderful news to her boy friend that’s when his true colours came into light. She didn’t give a second thought and left Chennai immediately.

She joined a software company in Mumbai. She worked there for 2 months and that was when she was sent to US on job visa to take up an assignment. Another three months later she proved her ability to work single handed and report back to the Indian office. Hence she was retained in the New york Office. She was in her 7th month of her pregnancy. She didn’t have the slightest time to enjoy her life throughout her pregnancy and she was in her fear, loneliness and grief. Most of all the anger of being betrayed and cheated had occupied her mind and soul all the day.

She finally decided to live her life in a happy way as she was sure that her boyfriend will be happy now with another girl. She was not ready to regret for what she had done and she was sure that the only reason for her live was for her kid. Slowly as the days passed she had earned and saved a little money for her self. She stayed in the same apartment where Neeraj used to stay before. The apartment was equipped with baby care and baby sitting as well. She was sure that she would get some work from home option after her delivery.
Soon it was the time. She delivered a baby boy. She went through all the stages of her pregnancy. She delivered this baby with all the pain she had to go through as all did in their motherhood. It was wonderful. The experience gave her an extra bonding. Soon she was discharged and she was trained to feed and take care of the baby all alone. She was brave enough for all these. The company where she worked gave her all the facilities to work from home after her maternity leave. Soon the kid was 4 months old and that’s when he heard that Neeraj’s wife had expired. She expired when their baby was 2 months old. She was so weak and all the treatment for the pregnancy and after abouts were unfruitful which pushed her to fever and then to her death.

She heard from her neighbours that Neeraj denied to send his baby girl with his parents to Chennai and wanted to have her here. But the options for working from home was not available for him, which made him to leave the baby in the day care. He was always worried about the baby and became restless as she was too young to be left alone or to be handled by others. That fatherly feeling was disturbing him a lot. That’s when Tara’s neighbor checked with her if she can have the baby for one day. Soon that one day became more days and Tara and Arya started liking the tiny Aadhya. Soon their closeness got Neeraj together.

Neeraj offered Tara to stay with them and as she had work from home option, she worked from at nights and completed her works while Neeraj took care of the kids. As the months passed by, Neeraj had developed a small liking and sympathy towards Tara and offered his hand for a wedding. Tara liked Neeraj as a nice human, but never had an intension of getting married. But Neeraj assured her that she was free to leave them anytime she doesn’t feel good to be together. With that assurance she got married to Neeraj.

The married life started for Tara along with the kids. Soon he asked her if she would like to quit her job and take care of the kids which she accepted instantly without a second thought. she was always busy with the kids and Neeraj gave her lots of time for her to open up and accept him as her husband. She then told Neeraj that she was betrayed by her boy friend. and also took a promise that never in her life he would try to know about her boyfriend as she hated him that level that she didn’t even want to think about him.

Neeraj was decent enough to accept her as how she was but also took a promise from her that never in their life time the kids will be differentiated or treated in such a way that they were not their own parents. From them upto date both had kept their promises. Many a times when Neeraj spoke about going to their home town to meet his parents, she stopped him and always told that she doesn’t want to come. She never mentioned any reason for the same, but, she was just blunt about not going there.

Soon after few years of their wedding, Arjun visited them frequently. Then she knew the fact that Arjun was none other than the same person who had interviewed her before. He was shocked to see her as his brother’s wife. But he was sure of one relationship that brother comes first before a friend. So he never revealed the truth about her to Tarun and vice versa.

Neeraj spoke a lot about Tarun and his family. But never a time she or Arjun uttered a word about their relationship. But Neeraj told anything about Tarun’s married life or about his wife. That’s when she realized her mistake. Now she knew that the mistake cannot be rectified but she can ask sorry to him… without Neeraj’s knowledge..
This time she made her mind not only to meet Neerj’s family but also meet Tarun as well……. She was well aware of the Truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
