Arya was 26 now, taller than Vishnu and resembled Vishnu exactly. He was very handsome and Janani had a hard time turning down the wedding proposals as Arya was not yet ready and wanted to settle down in life. But, when Janani came across Meera's profile, she was super impressed and insisted Arya to take a look. Arya looked at Meera's picture and profile only because of Janani's constant nagging, but fell in love at the first sight. Meera looked very homely and compassionate and though he did not want to appear to be excited, he agreed to meet her.

Janani had been made permanent at the school and she loved it. Every year she met a new batch of little angels and it kept her happy. She had constantly refused any promotions and liked teaching the kinder garden. Her hair had turned all white and she was proud of it.

The wedding was set to happen early summer and unlike Janani's and Vishnu's grand wedding, Arya and Meera had decided to have a simple wedding with just the close family at a temple and decided to start an education trust to sponsor for the education of those who could not afford it. Janani wanted an elaborate wedding, Arya being her only son, but she did understand how much the educational aid would mean to those who cannot afford it and accepted it. Arya was stunned when Meera agreed with him about spending the money for a good purpose and unlike girls of her age, she did not dream of an exquisite wedding, silk sarees or jewels. She was a very simple and undemanding girl.

Vishnu's and Janani's parents were thrilled beyond words to see their only grandson get married to a very sweet girl and felt that the purpose of their life was complete. They had survived to see their grandson get married and thanked the great God for the opportunity. Arya and Meera went to Simla for their honeymoon as Meera had insisted that she was not interested in wasting money on visiting places abroad. Vishnu was surprised that Meera had such simple tastes and no big expectations and he was happy to have found such a sweet girl.

When Arya and Meera returned from their vacation, Meera decided to take a couple of weeks off from work, so that she could get to know her new home, inlaws and Arya's grand parents better. Janani decided to help out the first few days and started liking Meera instantly. She was very sweet, understanding and down to earth. She helped Janani at the kitchen, served the grandparents patiently with a smile and had soon impressed everyone completely.

Vishnu and Arya had a little apprehension about how things would work out between Janani and Meera, especially since Janani always liked to be the one in control of the everything in the family. But, when they saw Meera running around Janani like a little girl, and accepted all her comments and criticisms with a smile, they knew they had made the right choice.

Arya had never been interested in computers and had taken a liking for Aeronautical Engineering. Although, he mostly worked at the Research center, he did have to travel once in a while for conferences and presentations. A conference was coming up at Delhi the next week and Meera was busy packing Arya's bags. Janani tried persuading Arya to stay back saying that it was just a few months since they had been married and to take Meera with him, but Arya said that was not possible as he had several clients to visit and he did not want to drag Meera along with him on such a hectic trip. Janani closely watched Meera, she was worried if Meera would be hurt. She remembered the times when Vishnu had become engrossed in work and left her alone. She did not want Meera to go through that pain and wanted the young ones to be close to each other.

Janani wanted to talk to Meera and when she saw Meera happily serving lunch to Arya, she decided to talk to her later.
It was time for Arya to leave and Meera hugged him and wished him a safe journey. She advised him to take care of his health and be careful, especially when travelling to unknown places. She then smiled at him and said she would miss him terribly and would be waiting for his call. Arya said he would miss her too and would call her the very minute he reaches Delhi. He happily said bye to everyone and left with a smile. Janani and Vishnu, who were watching this were surprised beyond words. Janani had expected a tearful farewell, a confrontation, pleading Arya to cancel the trip. Vishnu was surprised that things went so well, so smooth and did not fail to notice that Arya winked at Meera before he left with a smile. He had dreaded an emotional outburst as well and wondered how Arya would handle this. Meera interrupted Janani and Vishnu by saying, "ok dad and mom, looks like you wont move from here until Arya calls from Delhi, let us have lunch". Kamala could not hear properly these days and her vision was not perfect, but when Meera invited them to lunch with a smile and none of the emotional drama that she had feared happened, she sighed in relief.

Arya called home immediately after checking into the hotel and after everyone had spoken, Meera spoke for quite some time. Arya had just left a few hours back and yet they had so much to share. She was laughing hard, when Arya shared about the crazy talkative co passenger at the flight and his plight of explaining the hotel address to the taxi driver who understood only Hindi, a language Arya was no so familiar with. Meera longed for Arya's calls, but did not wait for one, the whole day. She was back to work and how much ever busy she was, made sure she came home in the evening to spend time with her inlaws and grandparents. She was just learnt cooking and with the help of Janani and the maid, she tried new delicacies every now and then. While Janani offered suggestions about how it could be improved, Vishnu never failed to praise Meera no matter how good or bad the dish was. He had started to see Meera as his own daughter and started liking her for making this home a beautiful place. Kamala and Raman longed for the evenings when they could chat with Meera. She treated them as her own grand parents and never once frowned when she had to help them with their food or anything.
