how often do you clean your apartments?
I live in Bangalore - not too dusty area.. but somehow i feel like every morning it looks so messy. I am worried about insects etc.. and the dampness associated with ground floor apartments.....

Please give me a frequency of each of the below cleaning tasks:

    Sweeping
    Swabbing
    hard stain removals from floors
    mirrors
    windows grills
    window mesh
    window glass
    fans
    lights and switchboards
    wall hangings
    open cupboards
    toilets
    bathroom wall tiles
    wash basins
    sinks
    bath mirrors
Add to the list if there are.....

    @curtainsdown,
i live in Bangalore too and you are right when you say ground floor spaces tend to get more damp if the rooms are not airy.
I have made out a routine of cleaning our house into daily, weekly and yearly.
    The daily tasks would include
    sweeping,
    swabbing of all floor areas,
    kitchen platforms,
kitchen sink - cleaned and left clear of any utensils etc and dry at night.
    The biweekly tasks will include:
cleaning bathroom floors with liquid etc.
    toilet bowls,
    wash basins,
    mirrors
    bathroom, kitchen taps etc

    Weekly tasks:
    Dusting all furniture,
cleaning glass table tops with liquid,
    wall hangings etc

    Monthly tasks:
    Fans,
    Window meshes,
    grills,
    vacuuming where required,
    changing bed sheets, covers,
    table linen etc.
Clearing out show case items and replacing, rearranging.
Clearing drains at night with chemicals where required.

    Yearly:
    Checking out damaged electrical equipments,
    swithboards, and cleaning.
Changing curtain materials with new ones etc.
Checking for any insect infestations like cockroaches etc and remedial
measures like getting pest control to apply gel etc when needed.
From the above, it is clear house maintenance is a continuous process and although
i have a part time servant to sweep, swab the floors and wash utensils, everything else needs to be done personally if we want a perfect work to be done.
    Hope this helps.

Need basis hard stain removals from floors, mirrors
Twice a year windows grills, window mesh ,window glass
    Monthly fans, cobwebs, open cupboards
Rarely :hide: lights and switchboards ,wall hangings
Alternate days toilets, wash basins, sinks, bathroom floor tiles

thank you both of you! very useful info you have.
    Two more questions?
    1) how often do you wash curtains?
    2) do you use harpic (or similar soap) in your toilet bowl every time you clean - every 2 days????
    3) what detergent do you use for bath tiles?

    Thanks ladies!

Curtain wash - twice a year. But I think i should be doing at least once in two months..

Toilet - yes, i do add a few drops of toilet cleaner like Harpic. Mine is a 12-13 year old flat. For new homes that may not be required.

Bath Tiles - I use regular washing powder / detergent, sometimes I use a cleaner liquid like Harpic tiles cleaner or lizol. I feel that works better than using detergent.
