    Hello ILites,

I heard from many of my friends that whenever they cook Dal, lot of yellow water leak fom the whistle which eventually leaves stains all over the stove and walls around the stove..

Many of might be knowing it, but a quick reminder to the newly weds ..

When we cook Dal, usually many women pour water approximately by hand measurement or random.. I usually pour 1:2 same like how we cook rice. This not only cooks the Dal smoothly but prevents water from coming out of the whistle. Still , I would recommend all to use a small napkin to wrap around the whistle.. It saves our time in cleaning stove tops and floor sometimes which gets dried stains because of this..

    Great tip, OP!
I also put a few drops of oil while pressure-cooking dal. I read somewhere that it prevents foaming, and it seems to help.

    Nice tip.

What works for me is cooking in proper containers based on quantity. I also cook with dish closed. Sometimes I find closed container boxes help. Also a pinch of turmeric and oil help in nicely cooked dal. Another thing is to was the dal well. It actually foams when you add water due to the processing involved.

keeping the gasket clean and the safety valve clean also helps.

the right amount of water both in the bottom and in the container helps in maintaining as well as energy saving and time saving.
