How to clean the switches and the wall below the switches

it's best with little soap solution on a piece of cloth or try with cif cleaner it works well and then wipe clean with clean damp cloth for any residue left.

 

I have tried using vim bar or liquid soap and scrotch brite scrub, It worked out well for the switchs and wall around it, and also to clean some crayon drawing done by my son on the walls.

 

I will tell you the simplest and quickest method.

Have a bottle of thinner at your house.It is available in paint shops.Thinner is volatile.

Take a clean cotton cloth and dip in thinner solution.Wipe it over dirty switches,greasy things,all stubborn stains.You will be amazed at the result.

Nail polish remover is nothing but diluted thinner.You can try that also.

 

I agree with kishoremommy.. thinner does the job..but be careful not to leave it on the switch for long,wipe it off.

if the paint surrounding the switches is washable, use a little spray of soap and sponge it off..

this is one tip i used to follow.. but not doing it right now..

cut a broad transparent cellotape and stick on all four sides..so that you can avoid the smudging finger marks...

 

Pasting cello tape is a good idea.

 

I cannot agree with you any more..thinner or kerosene is the probably the right choice.

Also, quite a few years back, when all of us were getting electric shocks whenever we used to touch any switch board, and while my father brought an electrician, he and that guy found out from investigation that my mom and our maid used soap and water to clean the switch board of the entire house!
