Insult of Women Hockey Team

I am so saddened to see the condition of our women's hockey team. They returned from Hong Kong after winning the cup. It should have been a proud moment for our country, but our Hockey Board couldn't care less.

Can you believe that not even one person was present at the airport to receive them? Nobody except their family members and some media people were there.

It is so bad. We much do something about it. Tell me the ideas of how can we make sure that our women athelets also get the same amount of respect as our Men sportsmen do.

I think this is very shameful. Our authorities will never learn how to do their job. But this is not only with women athletes. In fact, in India, all the sports people are treated like dirt by their boards. Bureaucracy and corruption has taken away the essence of sport and competition away from our sports.

Leave alone a tournament winners, our Olympic champions were mistreated by their boards. they were made to reach in their own facilitation ceremony in an auto-rickshaw.

All this is while our cricketers get all the previliges in the world.

Well I do agree very shame on the hockey board and media part. But as mentioned in some movie I remebered these lines... it is great and good for someone to play in cricket but hockey in India ... it's quite abit problem . that is what exactly happening

I think the movie you are talking about is Chak De India and it showed exactly what's happening to our women's hockey team. Do you remember its last scene, where they showed that there are only few cameramen and their relatives on the airport to receive them? I saw a real life enactment of that scene when our real team returned.

Its really shameful!

Indian society doesn't think of women as sports person. There are very few people who allow their daughters to play a sport as they are afraid of sending them out for tournaments. I used to play basketball in school and really loved the sport.
But after school, my parents didn't allow me to pursue a career in it as they were afraid that I won't get a suitable groom for myself. Even though I am happy with my life now, I wish I could do more with it....
