Splendid team effort resulted in magnificent victory over Chennai Super Kings. Anil Kumble preferred to bowl and chase the runs as he done in the previous matches and has earned victory for his side! There was no fear of Mathew Hayden or Raina in their mind; it was just belief in oneself. Run machine Mathew Hayden and Parthiv Patel get the runs going for their team with 61 runs on the board and no loss of any wicket. CSK fans cheered the opening partnership and the team showed its batting powers once again. Hayden was gone at 26 from 19 balls lacing it with 1 six and 2 fours before he got caught by Manish Pandey off Vinay Kumar, followed by Parthiv Patel who was plumb before Kallis and was dismissed at 36 from 27 balls with 7 fours. Dhoni and Raina put up a good partnership and pulled the team to a better position, Raina struck 1 four and 1 six from 19 balls and put up 20 before he got caught by Boucher off Parveen Kumar, surprisingly Dhoni stuck to gathering singles and taking his total to 28 from 30 balls and was dismissed by Van Der Merwe, was that not a very poor innings by a skipper played in Semis! Morkel was unbeaten at 20 from 17 balls lacing it with 1 four and 1 six, J Oram was removed by Vinay Kumar at 9 from 7 balls lacing it with 1 six, Badrinath unbeaten at 1, Chennai Super Kings struggled to put up 146 at the loss of 5 wickets with 6 extras. Unlimited joy spread across Chennai Super Kings team when Gony dismissed dangerous player Jacques Kallis who lofted a catch to Parthiv Patel when he had struck only 9 from 7 balls with 2 fours, Van Der Merwe disappointed his fans and was out at 2, a poor show of batting talent was showcased by Royal Challengers with a score of 22 for 2 in Semi-Final Round 2. ‘Wall’ of Indian Team, Rahul Dravid decided to display some of his superb strokes with a able partner Manish Pandey who is just 19 and had ample of strokes in his kitty for any kind of bowler. They put up a 72 runs partnership for the third wicket. Manish Pandey played like a seasoned cricketer raining the ground with 7 fours and scoring 48 from 35 balls before he got bowled out by Jakati. The 19 year old lad was in a bit of hurry to reach his half century. At Pandey’s dismissal, Royal Challengers was 94 for 3 losing their. Rahul played his superb cut shorts and displayed good cricket. He chipped in 44 from 39 balls with 6 fours, taking his team to a better position. Rahul was plumb before Muthiah Muralitharan and Royal Challengers was 104 for 4. With Rahul and Manish’s dismissal the asking run rate had shot up to nearly 10 a over. It was Virat Kohli and Ross Taylor who played the superb shots to bring down the run rate. Kohli knocked unbeaten 24 from 17 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes while Ross Taylor was unbeaten at 17 from 12 balls with 2 sixes. Royal Challengers set an example of not to depend on one batsman to make it ‘big’. Chennai Super Kings always depended on Mathew Hayden while Rajasthan Royals wanted Yusuf Pathan to crack, Deccan Chargers won only if Gilchrist and Rohit Sharma played. Such wins can be dicey and can deceive you when the right time comes. Royal Challengers instead of putting the responsibility on one batsman they divided it amongst themselves and each of them contributed to the victory. Kudos to you Manish, you could take any bowler to your stride and knew when to hit a four and when to push a single, You have long ways to go, boy, we are hungrily waiting to see you play the strokes in Finals! Rahul Dravid we want you to play in the Finals too, tired of seeing you push the balls for singles! Fall of wickets 1-17 2-22 3-94 4-110 ling A Morkel 3-0-26-1 Gony 2-0-23-1 Jakati 4-0-29-1 Raina 3-0-23-0 Muralitharan 4-0-15-0 Balaji 2-0-16-1 J Oram 0.5-0-14-0 Royal Challengers win by 6 wickets and enter in to the Finals to take over Deccan Chargers.
