| Hi all, I would like to start this thread to say three cheers and also congragulate the people who are achieving laurels in sports other than cricket and tennis... .The first in the list India's top women's shuttler/badminton player Saina Nehwal received a major boost when she crossed into the first 20 list. she has notched the 1 8th position. All this through her great performances in the asian circuit. She became the first Indian women to reach the semi-final of a Super Series event at the Singapore Open. This is a great boost for her in the Beijing Olympics in August.. .Let us say all the best to her. Anaka Alankamony bagged India's lone gold medal at the Asian Junior Squash championship which concluded recently in Busan, Korea. This is eighth international title for this U-15, chennai based Anaka. Congrats to Anaka.

| The next person who I would like to say cheers is Jeev Milkha Singh Though I have a very little understanding for the game, I admire him, for taking India to a new height in GOLF. He is the highest ranked Indian in the world...Now into the top 100. He was also the first Indian to enter the European circuit..which is considered tough. He was awarded the Padmashri by Government last year. (May be many know...but still would like to mention that his Father is the illustrious athelete Milka Singh.....who missed a bronze in 400m, 1960 Olympics(Rome), just by a whisker...0.01 sec... His timing then was a record by an Indian and is yet to be overtaken.. Jeev's mother also represented India as the captain of the volleyball team) PS: Shanthi, I forgot mention...Thanx for the news about Anaka Alankamony....I was unaware of her feat...by the way, there was another little girl from chennai na...in squash...deepika...what happened to her..not in news? The other girl from chennai is Deepika Pallikal, has entered the semi finals of the Chennai squash championship yesterday...She is a model also. I think there was some ego problems during the doha games..her father had problems with the squash fed.

| saras, How can we forget her yaar...i still remember, there was a interview where she got irritated, and just said, "IF people think i am sania mirza of squash, then sania is the joshua of tennis.." ![]() . People go around foraying unneccesary comparisons. infact i don't blame her..when she has a great list of achievements to speak for her..Joshna Chinnappa was the first Indian woman to win the prestigious under-17 squash title She was the first Indian to win the British Open Under - 19 She was the first Indian to win the Junior Asian squash championship in She was the first Indian to win the squash medal at the SAF Games in 2004. She was also the first Indian finalist at the World Junior championship. A three cheers to her also.... Do remind me of more...will join you in saying cheers to them...
