Goa till yesterday Goa was famous for beaches, parties, and sea food. Till IPL started and discovered the 24 year old unorthodox stroke player Swapnil Asnodkar who proved there is cricket hidden in those pure sands and whispering winds. He smartly coded in his brains that he has to perform to be noted and picked. He is only 5’5” tall but can tower strokes with ease. He has 311 runs from 9 matches with 2 fifties and an average of 34.55. India has found an opening batsman in Swapnil Asnodkar. IPL gave him the platform. Will he play consistently is yet to be seen?

Fellow sports fans - the IPL 20-20 was a huge success. I loved every minute of it. I thought that the closing ceremony was good (except for some tedious moments that could have been cut short). Great game - came down to the last ball! My vote for the best player in the entire series goes to Shane Warne. He has become my all time hero - by the way, I was rooting for CSK.

Way to go Mals - for the running commentary to all those who could not watch the event live!

Oh My Dear Kams Dals,

So, you were a great cricket fan, oh!! Sunny Gavs is not old for anyone, even today there are butterflies in many stomach for him. He was most technically sound batsman we have to quote. Nobody is old to quote Sunny and Kapil.

I am floored by Sourav Ganguly , he is called the Prince of Kolkata (he comes from the raja maharaja family) and he lives up to his title. I just love him. I was supporting KKR coz he was around but the whole team lost its spirit with the unwanted intervention of the owner Shah Rukh Khan in the team building etc. How can a person who is the master of his field be directed by a non player like Shah Rukh. It started spreading in the team and they lost. Now, my new found love is Shane Watson. I go weak on my knees whenever he flashes his pearls. His boyish smile sweeps me off my feet.

To be honest Kams, I hated the newspaper yesterday. Shane Watson was flashed with his wife . Now, I am concentrating on Shaun Marsh. . But, Shane Watson will be there in my heart forever.

Yes, when it comes to the enthu, yes, it is inherited and it is in my nature to start and end in a grand scale. Whatever I put my hand on, I take it to the last rung of the ladder and see that it tastes success and I get wholesome satsifaction out of it.

Cricket is my passion and only I know how many sacrifices I have given to update this thread and watch the matches too. Simple passion dear, where there is passion, there is fire and where there is fire there is passion.

THE SHORT STATURED TALL ORDER – PARTHIV PATEL


The 23-year-old wicket-keeper cum left handed batsman 160 cms talls from Gujarat once played for the Indian National Cricket Team. He was not taken seriously as selectors noted that as he was constantly polishing his batting skills and his wicket keeping was not up to the standards. He gathered 302 runs from 13 matches with 54 as his highest score, 2 fifties, 42 fours and 3 sixes and 6 catches and an average of 27.45 with a strike rate of 101.68 to his credit. Parthiv Patel arrived once again.

A VILLAGE LAD – MUNAF PATEL


He is 24-year-old young lad from Ikhar Gujarat a Right Handed Batsman and Right Arm Medium Fast ler. He played ODI v/s England in 2006. He has 15 matches and 14 wickets to his credit in the Ipl League with a magnificient 3/17 v/s Dare Devils an average of 30 and E.R of 7.64. He did not prove much from his willow with 15 matches 0 runs and 2 catches he has to improve a bit on the batting aspect. Will Munaf earn a berth in the Indian National Squad? Lets wait and watch.

THE CONFIDENT OPENER OF THE INNINGS – GAUTAM GAMBHIR


26-year-old Gautam Gambhir was strongly considered as the winner Orange Cap, till Shaun Marsh put his willow on fire to gather those 600+ runs to his kitty and lift the Orange Cap. Gautam Gambhi is a left handed batsman who opened the innings with his lucky partner Sehwag for Dare Devils and took his team to victory. He made his test debut in 2004 v/s Australia in the very own Wankhade Stadium, Mumbai. His ODI debut was with Bangaldesh in the year 2003. He has an average of 41.08 off 14 matches with 534 runs, 86 as his highest, strike rate of 140.09 with 5 fifties, 67 fours and 8 sixes and 2 catches to his credit. Gautam Gambhir can be relied upon as the opening batsman of Indian National Team. The selectors may have this in their mind and Gambhir must be happy to have proved his worth.

He ran 103 runs off 5 matches with highest of 57 against the lions of Punjab (Kings XI), 1 fifties, 13 fours and 1 six, 2 catches, average of 51.50 and strike rate of 127.16. Isn’t that a statistics that a selector will be looking for?
