| Dear Anandchitra, I do not believe in destiny or fate. One's destiny is in one's willingness to work for one's s progress in life.I do not believe in fate.I detest that word. The word fate puts us back and would not allow youngsters to put their best efforts to come up in life. love mithila kannan

| Hiya Ansuya, Glad you liked the poem. It is my fave too. Life is different to each & every person. It was nice to reading your opinion. It helps me know about different opinions. After all, a healthy discussion prevents us from developing a "frog in the well" mentality. When I say destiny, I do not mean that we take life as it is & do not take any action. Why is it Ansuya some people struggle to change their circumstances where as other take it as it is? Destiny has nothing to do with religion. Destiny is what you are. Put in your efforts & the results will speak for themselves. Hence the example of the "Rags to riches" story. Destiny has been twisted by the clergy in every religion to control the masses. As regards to your query of suicides/battered spouses, mere inaction by taking refuge under the guise of destiny is not correct. That is called escapism. Once again, thanks for taking time off to read my viewpoint. Now please go back to sleep. I do not want to see dark circles under your eyes on your lovely face. ![]() Regards, Corallux

Corallux Its interesting to read your line Destiny rules us and it can be altered by good karma. In my limited knowledge, I think the effects of karma can be felt only in the next birth. If we are predestined to certain actions or circumstances then why should we try hard or work hard to alter a preset course. For example, a good student enters a professional life hoping and imagining to have a successful career. By success here its just to retain a job and make the payscale for that position. Circumstances do not favor success and he/she loses job. So if this person knew he/she would remain without a job or not succeed in a job then why would that person put in all the effort in the first place? Like you say you do open a Pandora's box but look how interesting our posts are going and how intriguing is Ansuya's disagreement too!! |

| Here 's the poem: OUT of the night that covers me, Black as the Pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever gods may be For my unconquerable soul. In the fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance My head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears Looms but the Horror of the shade, And yet the menace of the years Finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate, How charged with punishments the scroll, I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul. Thanks to Corallux for bringing it here:) Quote:
In reality it could be any number of things. Many tend to lean on the paper tower of destiny and thereby do not put forth ACTION. |

You have raised a pertinent observation with respect to WORK .. Like you say even if one is married one cannot sit back and assume its going to be smooth sailing .. one has to work in different ways.. maybe more adjusting is reuqired .. This also applies in other situations too. |

| Yes I do agree with ANasuya...its very amazing expressions by her. But anything in life like Faith, destiny or astrology it just upbrings power which is underlying with us which we dont know. So believing or not is as per one's own choice, Just live life as you want!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Mithila well said.. I can assume that you brought up your daughters with best principles and not with superstitions and so they must be successful too.. If a person does not get caught up with all these thoughts on destiny and fate they will most likely put out their best foot forward at all times! |

| Chitraji, You have referred that the marriages have something to do with the luck or destiny. It is said that the 'Pairs' are made in the heaven, in advance. But since the day of my marriage i have serious doubts about the functioning of the 'match Making Department' of the heaven. There is something wrong in that department !!! Cheer. Nothing is mightier than the hard efforts; and the luck helps only those who dares to put their boats in the stormy oceans.
