God Bless you !

On the eve of 'Vinayaka Chaturthi', I am happy to share the following incident with all of you .

Normally, I make my children (2 sons) recite shlokas everyday in the car on the way to the school.

I enlisted them in fun courses at the Math & Science Innovation center during the summer vacation. We left at around 8am everyday.

Once inside the car, I give them the cue as "Om" to start the shlokas and they chant all the shlokas,one by one starting from Ganesha, Shiva and so on till Anjaneya and Guru Bhagawan.

One morning, when I said "Om" for them to start reciting, to my surprise, only my older son was reciting the shlokas.

I asked my younger son why he was not . He casually replied ,
"Appa already said 'God bless you' in the morning when I made all the beds. He appreciated me and gave me his blessings. Since I got the blessings for today, I don't need to say the shlokas !! "

"Om" my God ! I was totally stumped ! For a moment, I blanked out, not knowing how to convince him to recite the shlokas.

I was laughing my head off , amazed at his (en)lightning presence of mind !!

This reminded me of Lord Vinayaka who went around his parents (God Shiva and Goddess Parvathi) when he was asked to go around the world 3 times to get the much coveted fruit from Sage Narada.

Thats a very good presence of mind of your son.I told my son Lord Ganesh is celebrating his birthday.He started singing "Happy birthday to Ganesha" and insisted on cutting a cake..

Yes, kids always associate b'days with cake...probably you can say Kozhukattai is a new type of cake ! :)
