People are being explioted by all these colorful ads..they waste their hard earned money thinking that ..they Ad's are very true..
Becoming Fair in 7 days, buy one two free.....

Yemararavanga irukiravarikum Yemathravanga iruka thaan seivanga....
Brindha the worst and the most untruthful ads are the fairness ones. It is high time the fairness creams are banned. They are not just cosmetics but reflect an unhealthy state of mind in which we find not only black but even brown-skins are not beautiful.

I really need to take some time out and sit and watch some ads these days. They seem to be really hilarious.
Roopa all TV ads have their share of unintentional humour because they take the viewers to be idiots. But this toothpaste ad is the limit.

Dear Balajee

It is difficult to know what to ban and what not to ban since human nature is such that we always want to possess what we don't have.

Thus the dark skinned races are desperately buying up "fair and lovely" products while the Fair skinned races love to get roasted in the tropical beaches - for what ? You guessed it -to get a deep sun tan and darken their complexion !

Its paradoxical that no matter how unnecessary a product may seem to us , there will always be others queuing up to buy the same stuff !

Regards.

Yes some ads are creative and entertaining and that's where they should stop. Even in entertainment there is something like ethics. Take the Fairness cream ads. They promote the misleading notion that dark is not beautiful and if a woman wants men drooling over her, she should be fair-skinned.

Jaishree let us admire the imagination of the TV ad script writers and forget their products!

Shashi, thrue ads have to be interesting but the problem is they are selling a real product and the product has to be true to its claims Otherwise the consumer is being taken for a ride as in the case of these fairness creams which claim to make you fairskinned in a week.I know a girl whose use of fairness creams gave her rashes. She was under treatment for six months in a Delhi hospital and her condition improved though the scars are still visible. I think the cream should be called Foul and Lousy instead of Fair and Lovely.

Ads do have their effects on kids and adults alike nowadays, they being more interesting than the serials. There was this ad for frozen peas, the mother used to ask her daughter,"Today what will my darling daughter would like to eat?"in a very sweet manner. The daughter would say,"mutter and bbahut sare mutter".
My daughter wh was young at that time, used to look at me accusingly and say,"yu never asked me tat question ever?".
I have also seen small kids from poor family background looking at the ads for maggie noodles and chocolates with dreamy eyes.Used to make me feel bad.
So much for ads.
As usual a hilarious thread from you.
love

Mithila, thanks. Ads actually accentuate the rich-ppoor divide. They increase resentment among the poor over things they cannot attain. And they make bigger fools out of fools.by making tall claims. But don't be surprised if someone takese these ads seriously and gets into trouble!
