Wow Balajee, that was a good one.

I really need to take some time out and sit and watch some ads these days. They seem to be really hilarious.

Hi Balajee,
Nice and creative post.

Anyway it is an AD MAD WORLD, you see. Ads have completely taken over the world of business. But some ads are really entertaining. I appreciate the creativity in making those ads.

But now I appreciate the creativity out of one of those ads.

Keep entertaining us.

Yes sri, we all get conned. We tend to fall for tall claims knowing fully well that they are tall claims. It is a pity we do not have someone of the stature of Ralph Nadar in India.

Dear balajee,
Whenever this toothpaste ad comes on TV my husband says the same thing,"Some foolishman may believe this tio be true and is going to get it good and strong".So this happened to you?Thank God,it was in dream.
Ads do have their effects on kids and adults alike nowadays, they being more interesting than the serials. There was this ad for frozen peas, the mother used to ask her daughter,"Today what will my darling daughter would like to eat?"in a very sweet manner. The daughter would say,"mutter and bbahut sare mutter".
My daughter wh was young at that time, used to look at me accusingly and say,"yu never asked me tat question ever?".
I have also seen small kids from poor family background looking at the ads for maggie noodles and chocolates with dreamy eyes.Used to make me feel bad.
So much for ads.
As usual a hilarious thread from you.
love

Hi, Balajee

Your narrative on consumerism is very humourous. I enjoyed reading it. But, I have some serious comments on Indian consumerism as against that in western countries especially in U.S. In U.S. the name Ralph Nadar is famous for bringing consumer awareness. He has been contesting U.S. Presedential elections and I think even now he is contesting as an independent. Because of his campaign thee are several things in favour of consumers. Any goods bought can be returned within stipulated date sometime running for a month and full refund one can get. I heard that Indian students are taking advantge of this.

In India, still consumer awareness has to come in a big way. I can give few examples. My friend bought cloth for stritching shirt. He gave it to his tailor who put the cloth in water before stitching and found the cloth had shrunk, so he was not able to stich. My friend took the cloth to the shop and asked for refund. He was told by the shop owner that he should have washed properly by showing the washing instructions printed in fine print in similar cloth which said the cloth has to be washed with water at optimum temperature. My friend could not have gone to court. Whereas in U.S. there was the case of a lady who moved to the back seat in her new car while the car was running to prepare sandwhich and met with an accident. She sued the car company saying that they have not mentioned in their manual that she cannot do so and won another new car plus $50,000 in compensation.

Long back in Mumbai TV there was a serial titled Rajini acted by Priya Tendulkar. Rajni became a cult figure since she was shown as bravely fighting for consumer rights.

Regards,

Geetha Iyer

I see many companies "Consumer based" are having an eye on you .....Take care !

Best Wishes,
Gowri, I dont mind the companies having an eye on me as long as they send big suitcases packed with cash to slience me. But I suspect they would find it cheaper to hire hit men.
