| Dear Viji I am thoroughly enjoying your excellent thread here.. Due to time constraints I had missed this earlier.. You have written a very good comparison of the change in times.. with respect to man and woman and then other factors too. My grandmothers have also told me about their early married years. And like you say todays many girls do not want to follow the traditional ways we have. Though sad it is true. Your last para is the crowning jewel.. Thanks for writing a really good one.. makes me think .. and I am glad I got to read it too though belatedly! |

| Dear Viji, Whatever you have said, they are very true ! About 4Ds - Very very correct, I am realizing it now !! I was remembered my Late Grandfather's words, they used to pick sticks (sulli), they have to sell in the market and earn for their living,as he lost his father and mother at his tender age of 5. How he used to lead a life with Rs.20 as his monthly income and running a family of 10 people - Joint family, brother's family included with his family. How they struggled to give good education for them ? Nice write up... With love,

| Dear Gowri Thanks for your FB. In olden days people used to live in joint family and they used to get help from them. Rightly said those days people used to struggle a lot so they knew the value of money. Now a days people get good education and get good salary but they dont know the value of money. Not all some of them. with love and blessings. viji Quote:

| Dear Viji, Liked the topic very much. Till we moved to Pune we were in a joint family...not to big but my in-laws were with us. Now they keep coming to Pune in between. I really miss that togetherness. About the 4 Ds. I feel even if you have it...but still sometimes you have to forgo everything because of the circumstances. Love roopa. |

| Dear Viji, A good thread, thought provocking and true. But even if we want to , we cant go back to those days, when girls were married young, had kids young, and were not very educated. And we cant live without the modern gadjets like a mobile computer and washingmachines too. And it is good u bought a separate house for yr son.these days sons are as good as daughters, they go away to live in their own nest with their wife and children. In a way better, as their thoughts are so different than ours.So they are better separate. And today hardly any lady wants to he a homemaker, so both work, and who wants to take care of the babies, let them decided a cretche or a servant. But yes, those times there was more love and bonding than today, I agree. Regards.kamal |
