I don't very well agree with the demarcation of religion and spirituality. My little brain says it is a very fine and minute thing. A bit of fine tuning to religion it becomes spirituality. So I prefer to see them in totality and not as separate entities.

Secondly what science can't explain religion indicates. Religion at its abstract level can be as scientific as science itself. Science too carries with it fallacies and what is proved today is unproved tommorow. Exactness and perfections are only notions to make man reach his goal. There is nothing which can be can produce exact and perfect result.
Both science and religion can make a man restless in knowing the absolute. If science made Einstein restless so also the cosmic phenomenon which makes him derive certain results.
Few yeras back I read an article by Einstein where he mentions " Last night one super natural force helped me in deriving the formula E =mc2. Believe it or not.
I mentioned this to my husband and he said "Raatri meeram thukka thille ennavo paddi chirrukai!

Dear Kanaka,

Your analysis is excellent. Yes, knowing the absolute can make one restless. Sometimes thinking what the future holds, what will happen if the world we live comes to an end makes me go nuts. So, I feel the best way to get peace and enjoy life is to accept the fact that there is one supernatural force who takes care of everything The famous saying "God is in heaven and all right the world" is to be remembered.

What you have mentioned about Einstein is very interesting. I have read his book on relativity where he has derived his famous equation E= msquared c with tensor calculus and at the end he has put this comment "this innocent looking equation is all about theory of relativity". Surely, he would have felt how long and what troubles he had to undergo in deriving one equation which has revolutionised the world. Without using any theory or equations millions of years ago a supernatural force has created the world and universe with millions of planets, stars etc. and make them go through very periodic motions.

A famous joke with Einstein comes to my mind. Immediately after his discovery of relativity one person asked him what is the meaning of eternity. Einstein told him " I can tell you the meaning but it will take you an eternity to understand".

Thanks for your excellent F.B.

Regards,

Geetha Iyer

Dear lalitha shivaguru,

You have said rightly the base of every thing is HE alone. In Tamil we say "Avaninri anuvum asaiyathu". But, some people forget that and creative people like scientists are prone to think in that way. Thanks for your nice post.

Now, if you use the word 'think', where does the heart come in? Are we saying it is possible to think with our hearts? Even feelings that we trace to our hearts ultimately originate in our brains, don't they? I guess both religion and science are ultimately products of the brain. They are just two ways of thinking, aren't they? I don't know if I have been able to explain myself clearly.
Hi, ojaantrik,

I said that religion is way to God via one's heart because many of the religious preachings are based on sentiments, emotions and without much rational thinking. This is probably due to the fact that religion has to reach the masses. Ofcourse, we have had saints who sat on meditation and gave us the vedas, upanishads etc. Science is based mainly on rational and logical thinking and in that process scientists who discover the secrets of nature should be awed by the super natural force that has craeted everything without the need for theories, experiments etc.

Thanks a lot for your intersting response and I hope I have answered your question.

Love,

Geetha Iyer

It would have been more humorous if Einstein were to say " I can say but it will take me an eternity to understand what I have said. kanaka

Geetha,
Very nice analysis of the relation between the intellectuals and God...

As scientists/intellectuals, always need proof or explanation for each and everything....they forget that some things are beyond their control and explanations, too....
I second your thought that atleast after discovering so many things, they should be acknowledging Him...
Re-discover is the correct word...not the discovery...of such a such a thing by so and so...
