About this kottu paratha, when i went to chennai for my college there i heard first about this.. everybody is telling its very good.. one day i got a chance to taste this street food(ofcourse not in a restuarant).. it is very good.. from that day onwards we friends were present at the pushcart opposite to our college bus stop in the evening and that push cart wala was very happy to sever us daily.. and if we miss and day or during holidays.. he used to tell us he missed his regular customers so much
Can't blame my daughter. Kothu paratha does look like subzi (particularly the "silly" variety. Fun experience? It was perplexing initially and fun later (The waiter got perplexed later).

Balajee,

Reading behind the lines of a regional menu card is even more fun that would narrowly surpass the anticipation of how the final dish would turn out. I have even seen "Baroda" sold for Rs. 15 in some "restaurants" ! Would be injustice to not mention "It(a)ly" ;) But takes a lot more creativity to generate a blog out of it, which only you could do ! Good one again.

Regards,
Gayu

Sri , it looks like Ive been unintentionally educative. I taught you what Kottu paratha means! It can be had as a side dish provided it is a silly beretta doused with blood red chilly (silly) sauce and other condiments.

As you say about the confusion between the sounds of P and B....I am reminded of our days in Orissa. We grew up there ....for 7 years... There, in the local language...the same confusion sometimes with the sounds of B and V...
One Uncle used to have fun with his name..He was Vaithialingam...It was written and pronounced there as Bhaithialingam in the local language. He used to often tell us..now if I write in Tamil as Baithialingam....it can be easily confused by some as Paithialingam....(for those who don't know....Paithiam is mad/crazy in tamil)..

Bye
Yeah we have a Paithyanathan in the family too!

Hey I never thought of paratha as Baroda! Eating an entire city must be exciting! Well I suppose It is a delusion. After all we dont eat Mysore in pak and Mangalore in Bonda or Poli!
