Smile "Walks" of Life

Walks” of Life

Another bright and glorious day ! After the early morning chores, making breakfast, including packing lunch for my hubby, fatigue sets in as though I’ve reached the end of the day. Though psychological, my mind swings like a pendulum- whether or not to go for a walk. Yes, I tell myself everyday, I should go for a walk to stay fit, physically and mentally.

Hard as I might try, but would eventually succumb to inertia (a comfortable excuse for not taking the fresh air)

Many a time, I push myself hard to step out. No sooner do I "kick-start" myself than I find myself galvanized into action. Wow ! It does declutter my mind, blowing the cobwebs away.

What a sight ! People from all walks of life walking, jogging and cycling. Yes, literally from 6 to 60 years. Oh no ! I should say “from 6 months to 60 years”, what with cuddly babies in strollers, adding more “life” to the walk.

Birds chirping, gulls screeching, ducks swimming, and gentle zephyr pep me up and make me connect with nature.

This is absolutely refreshing and motivating. I walk at feverish pitch, literally sweating it out, and melting away the needling worries and rankling thoughts. Walk I do, for a mile or two. Needless to say again, it is rejuvenating.

I tell myself this is what I want to be, and not a zombie !

I know for sure, this may be a one day affair. You know what, I have decided to “walk the talk” . Care to come along?

Dear Krithika,
Yes, Why not?
I am also like you, finding some lame excuses for not going out for a walk. This is not me. I used to love walks (along with my DH) until last summer. I don't know why am becoming so lazy these days.
Krithika, the pictures are awesome! Feel like going immediately for a walk on those grasslands. Hihihi..... atleast one day.

Hi Jithiks,

Take me along....wish to have a "walking" friend always.Until i moved to US, i had a tread mill at home which helped me to maintain my fitness level.Though it is not as fresh as nature walk, something is better than nothing !! Right?

I used to walk early mornings.. Those were the days...

No, get up at 5, hit the gym, come home, cook, pack lunch, get ready and catch the 7.30 train .. Thats my schedule in the mornings :(

When at home working, my mind says.. "Nan, you are busybee every day in the morning, why not relax today " And I answer, "thats right, sure"

So run at home for 30 mins and thats it.. no walking...

But most of the days, we try to walk after dinner... not regular though...

Krithika.. thats a nice place to walk.. is it inside a community or is the community near by some park? its so cool...

Dear Kriti,
Now you come along with me, my young friend!!
I have been "walking " (?) for the past 30 yrs, ever since we shifted, near the Marina Beach. First 15 yrs, it was at 5 AM, now it is shifted to PM.
But that is the one-hour, I let my thoughts go wandering, undisturbed!!
The placid beach & sky on one side, the maddening traffic of the main arterial road on the other - I am learning to strike a balance in life!!
One of my best experiences of a day!!
V comes along & races ahead. I have given up, catching up with him!! So, we do not "talk the walk" !
Love,
Chithra.

Dear Krithika

I too feel very lazy lately to go on my morning walk.
Previous years. I always took my walk in the morning for 30 mins. and during the weekends, DH and I would walk almost an hour.
Since it is very warm here now, I have to walk by 6.30 AM. It does not cool down until 9 PM. I have to push myself for atleast 4 times a day

Nice pictures, by the way!
