Sunkan,
Rightly pointed out, the other side... nowadays both the families face...and have lot of expectations about the groom and the bride...to find a suitable match becomes difficult and sometimes they stay just like that...and say what is wrong being like this (it is their opinion, na)
Sometimes, in my opinion too, the way they portray the bride and groom in the serials or pictures also play a vital role in the minds of both the parties and have more expectations built up...and they are not ready to compromise...
Truly most of the laws were 'man'-made, no wonder ( I did not want to blame all men in this..there are more exceptions in all cases)

Anu,
I agree with your views 100%, but the initial training or say the foundation must be strong enough to handle those changes..that is they should be 'trained' atleast mentally to accept the changes it brings.( shall we call maturity, in other words)
On the job training---I think it is very apt here...and like that phrase here..

Aruna,
I got the person whom you are referring to...who would be none other than Meena...she is a bit over enthu in all these fields, maybe she is getting ready for the same..
Maturity by mind is the key factor here not only the age.....true indeed..

Dear Srini,

Among the Christians the bride and the bridegroom is called for counselling sessions before marriage. Ofcourse it is mostly the church which does. Now many counselling centres have started doing this. kanka

Finishing schools have prevailed in the western culture since ages. In Indian communities these classes did enjoy success for a brief moment and then stopped. Most parents consider age being a factor to decide whether their children are 'ready' or not and most advises are given to the bride that she needs to compromise in the new house.

As everyone have their own expectations and ideas about marriage, I think both prospective bride and groom should have proper counselling to clear the 'Happily ever after' myth and be shown that reality is not all that sad. Most guys dont know how to divide their attention between their moms and wives. There are no guidelines for them to follow. Most feel guilty spending time with their wives in their mother's absence and this is not an exagerration. Girls don't know what is acceptable as compromise and what constitutes 'taken advantage of'. Most mothers tell their daughters to tolerate and get along and in future it will turn out good.
Most importantly both bridge and groom should be taught how to communicate in a mature adult way rather than allow themselves to bottleup until they are neck deep and then take a disastrous step.

But I dont recommend finishing school but counselling yes. I have seen that when both set of parents are happy in their own marriage and accept the new additions in their lives, it make life a lot easier to lead for the new couple. But very few of us are that lucky.

Good question.

I guess it has nothing to do with classes, counseling and what not. Its like coaching/pushing them to be ready.

I would say, its the question every individual should ask. If they feel commitment-ready and to move to the next level in life, then that's the answer.

Life is not a textbook. So having such trainings would not help in the real-time.

Dear Big B,

Look at me..I went for a vacation when my Big B has asked a very very interesting and valid question...

Interesting replies..

It is definitely not theoritical. But, some accepted golden theories like patience etc can be taught and practiced.

Now coming to the point, it depends and differs according to situations.. Isn't it?
