DEATH PENALTY? Is it Good or bad to the society?

I have hours of discussions many a times, when we talk about society and all the different new types of criminal activities happening in this world. There are some who would say, whatever may be the cause, as a fellow human, we have no rights to decide others fate. Why others say, when a victim did not have a choice, why should the culprit be given one.

My take it DEATH penalty all the way for heinous crimes.

I would like to vote "No". Its not like i'm Mahatma's way, but i would say, just a moments pain by killing them is not a worthy punishment for a heinous or outrageous crime. Hope we all would have come across the punishments in Gulf area. I dont know how far it is true, still those are apt in quite few circumstances.

Once the chairman of a famous charity institution was invited to our college function.He told the following: A girl came crying for shelter to this trust; the reason she stated was terrifying. She said that, she lost her mother few months back, after this her father started drinking a lot and coming to home, attimes he tried to misbehave with her @ times (for which she didnt even know the meaning), as this went on, one horrible day that man forced hos kid to satisfy his physica need openly. After a terrible fight she escaped from him and came to that institution.

I dont think these people deserve just a small pain called death.I may slightly be away from the topic, still thought of relating my opinion with this topic.

I think we should have death penalty.......let the person in death row forever ......thinking abt his guilt and waiting for his term........
And it should be must for Rapers.......child abusers.......

Cindhu, I agree..a simple injection might not be as painful as how the victim suffered...but as meeta says let him wait knowing that he will die soon, right?

This society must be streamlined somehow. They should have the feeling that one cannot just escape after doing such bad things..

Hearing that girls story, if I were of some powerful position, would make him suffer for months and then put him to death..

Voted. A few crimes do require this punishment. And for those crimes, my opinion is that the offender must crave & request for his death penalty. Prior to the penalty, he should be given enough treatment which will make him plead for his death penalty.

Abolishing death penalty, opens the doors for more crimes and an opportunity for criminals to take others' life for granted. My

Yes ... Death penalty has to be given ... Else, the crime will be increased everywhere ... In tamil we say ... 'Arasan Andru Kolvan ... Deivam Nintru Kollum' ... So, they will have both penalty from Humans and God ... Even when the criminals are missed from Humans EYE, they can never escape from GOD's EYE ...

Hmm..death is the ultimate, its the end of a person. To kill ones self itself is a sin, why hang another soul? wont a life sentence do the needful?

Very True sunitha.. but the argument from the other side would be: Give punishment, thats fine.. but why the extreme?

True that no fellow human has the right to take others life. But being in life imprisonment, do they actually feel remorse? We give these criminals an option, but the victim was not given any chance?

Whats the point in spending all the people's tax money and feeding these criminals?

These would be argument from the other side ;)
