Dear Nandhu, Agreed that there should be a dealth penalty for the heinous crimes commited for a hardened criminal. There are some who are not fit for society and are dangerous. They should be put to the gallows. Regards.kamal

I don't agree instead of death penalty, give criminal life time sentence so that they get time to realize wht sin they did & regret for it. Death is very easy way for any sin, instead realizing it & live with it really difficult.

I like you way of looking at it.. Many of you guys... think it that way.. but what if he/she did not have any remorse and have 3 course meals and all basic necessities provided by the people's tax... I mean is it really worth for these people to live in the first place?

hi nandhu, many people commit crime at the spur of the moment and so the only way you can make them realise is by giving them some kind of life sentence etc instead of death penalty atleast they will realise their mistake.i am reminded of the movie provoked here where the woman puts her man to fire at the spur of the moment and thats all because of the reason that she has been battered and harrased for 10yeras of marriage.she had been given only 3 years of sentence instead of life sentence which she was given initially, ofcourse which involved loads of appeal and public support, this is a true story which changed the british law. regards pavi Last edited by pavithrasriram; 22nd June 2008 at 01:03 PM.

Hi nandyashyam, a thought provoking issue indeed! As far as I know, a person is given a death penalty, after he is given all assistance to defend himself and when he is thought of a threat to other human beings, to be short only in extreme cases. The judiciary consists of a group of other human beings, who after much argument enables the decision. It is not imposed on each and every criminal.Even habitual offenders are given at the most life sentence. And hence if by death penalty to one person, can save a few innocent lives, I feel that it is alright to impose it.This is my personal opinion. ![]()

| Hi Nandhu These criminals should be put to some hard work, Most of them are healthy and enjoying free meals, why not put them to some work? In yesterday's news, I saw that some prisoners were carrying sand bags across the levees in Iowa. After contributing to society, they can be given a chance before the death sentence.
