Angry Alarming-save your hardearned money

Dear all,

These days its being the hot news in papers about credit card cloning that is getting information about credit card users all over the world through online chat which is considered crime per Cyber Crime Law..

It seems in a calm village of UK nearly 400 found that their account has been short of money by persons unknown from Mumbai, Chennai, SriLanka, Dominican Republic etc. (credit:Times of India)..

They say the vulnerable spots are the transactions made in any supermarkets, petrol stations and are surreptitiously recorded and emailed across the world for such illegal withdrawals..

What could be the safety measures that we can offer to our hardearned money?

This is really alarming and worrying too..

Ladies,

These crimes are indeed becoming alarming and some ways how we can safeguard ourselves is listed below:

Be very careful how you list names on your handphone! Be safe!Recent case: One lady had her handbag stolen/robbed. The handbag contained her handphone, wallet (cash, credit cards), etc. She called her Hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened. Her husband said "I've just received your sms text asking about our PIN number, I replied a little while ago".They rushed to the bank, only to be informed all the money in the bank account had been withdrawn. The criminal had actually used the stolen handphone to text the "Hubby" in the contact list and got hold of the PIN number. Within several minutes the criminal had withdrawn all the money from the bank account.Lesson:1. Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Sayang, MyLove, Dad, Mum, etc... Instead, just use given names!2. When sensitive info is requested through sms texts, please CONFIRM BY CALLING BACK.3. If you're being texted by "friend" or "family members" to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you cant reach them, something is not right and think twice about going to the places mentioned in the sms text. Pass on to the people you love!!

Hi Laknar

I would suggest just 3 precautions
1) Have not more than 2 credit cards
2)Every time you swipe your card mentally note it or note it in your place of convenience about date and amount as well as place
3)Have the message alert instructed to your bank everytime the transaction takes place

People cannot misuse your card untill you are careless

They cant simply use the CC num for online activities untill they have the CVV num and sometimes the PIN num

They need the authorised signature on the receipt when they swipe the card at malls/shops

Preferable opt for a card with photo identity

Cheers!!
Anu

Hi friends,

Thanks for all the valuable suggestions.

Please inform the bank once your card (ATM / Credit card) is stolen, to suspend any transactions occurring.
