Default Have you heard about them ?

Hi all,

Since my childhood dayz i have seen many people with some silly peculiar characteristics. Though cannot be defined as peculiar, we can atleast call it as a special mannerism of that person, at times gives an identity for the person. For example,

No one can satisy my granny easily. Whatever you get from a shop she will find faults, irrespective of the item. Say, if our servant maid gets some grocery she will look at it and find some reason to return it back like it is not the brand she regularly uses, forgot to get the free sample with the product. At times she even returns the saree stating some reason and gets of her own choice.

Some people have the tendency to bargain with the salesman, even though they sell it @ a moderate price. Even if it is a 50 np lesser the actual price they will yell for it and feel proud for it.

A neighbour of mine always asks for an extra handfull of the item she purchases we call it Kosuru in tamil.

I have seen many ladies getting te same pattern of ornaments or dresses if they are impressed by someone..

And the list goes on...Hope some of you would also have come across such people, please do share with us.

Hi Cindhuja,

True. We do come across such people. In fact I've seen all the types that you are saying! My dh himself loves to bargain with the vegetable vendors and florists!!!
I have an aunt who simply does not believe anybody. For any functions or family gatherings, she does not take anybody's help...she will struggle herself and complete the activities. Even on the d-day, she would want to monitor everything herself! The result is that some people are not properly treated. Imagine a family function with 250 people...obviously she and her hubby alone cannot enquire and serve everybody!

Smiles,
Hema

Hi Cindujha

Even I Have noticed such charcters in my life and you know even I am 1 of those charcters who bargain, Few instances I have bargained are as follows
1)In bangalore theese days Autos have become very expensive. they demand more than the meter rate even before you board it, their reasons are very simple either your Destination is outside the city limits thus returning back empty is ordeal Or your destination is inside the city, there will be huge traffic jam and hence he needs more for the time spent @ the signals!!

Hence when ask a rick guy , he says" madam 40 rs extra....I say no 20 rs extra else I will take the next rick"

2)when waiting in the signal ppl come selling variety of items, An ordinary plastic toy he tells me will cost 80 Bucks , I told him that this toy is worth 25 (I actually wanted to shoo him off) he tells me to take it for 50 , i say 25 , he tell me 30, then he noticec the signal turning amber...he says madam take it for 25..I am shocked..80 - 25 in 40 secs!!...well I paid him 25 n got away,,,then I reach home and think should I have stated the initial price as 15!!?

Cheers!!
Anu

Hi Cindhuja

My FIL has this trend when it comes to food..

My FIL is a gourmet (likes to have good food) when it comes to food.. How well and with care I prepare the dish he will find some fault and would say " it should have a bit more of salt or less salt, should be somemore cooked or should have some more oil or should have added somemore perungayam or should have added keerai or should have somewhat been fried and on and on..Getting tired to earn the name "good cook" though I managed to get the name from all others..

I am trying hard to make the arisi upma and God only knows what he is expecting out of that upma.. he goes on and on like "innum rendu kariveppilai podalaam or innum thengaa podalaam etc"..

There are people who is always fault finding with their maids as well..

I think the trend is much pronounced with elderly people and we just cannot do much about it..

luv
Lakshmi

Dear Cindhuja,

My mom never believes everyone immediately ... she always have some hesitation in her mind when she speaks with new people ... Opposite to this is my Dad, who always trusts people in first meeting itself ...

there r so many kinds of people ...it would be a great time pass observing people....

my mil doesnt buy anything without bargaining,
if i go with my husband for shopping ..we could finish within no time even if it is worth of lakhs of rupees ..and the good thing is...everytime he buys anything within minutes ,everyboby likes it .

my aunt ....she most of the looks for any sale in newspapers....she has got most of her sarees in sale itself....even she is lucky that she gets very good stuff but it would be horrible for the one who accompanies her ..she takes such a long time even for 100 rs saree.
my father brings groceries so many at a time as if there would be a bandh for a month or 2.my mother is opposite

Hi Cindhuja,

It happened to me just day before yestarday, my MIL has got some ENT problem and surgery is required as per the doctors suggestion and he even asked for some medical tests. My FIL accompanied us,i heard he is a big bargainer but never faced directly, even in the diagnostic center he was almost had a big fight saying why are charging so much,i will enquire somewhere and if you are charging more you will have to refund....blah blah,i couldn't stand that situation and coming home i politely explained him that they are not charging anything specially from us,they maintain specific rate for all the patients not he was accepting that so now i am not taking him along with me to the hosp.I heard that he even bargains school fee.

I personally don't think bargaining is bad but not in this kind of places atleast.
bye

Hi hema,

Thanks for charing your comments.Yes i have seen people like the couple you have stated. Some feel satisfied only if they themselves do it. The problem arises only when the continue to do even after some age, after which though they are mentally ready, physically they face some issues. Even my granny is one such person who still wants to be active like a bee inspite of her age.IF we ask her tale rest, she takes it in a wrong sense as though we are avoiding her. What to do, these are people who have to be taken utmost care.
