How do you pray to God?

Hi,

Nice thread. In my house everyone have faith in god & will surely pray twice a day. In the mornings once i take bath, i used to wash & clean the panchapathiram in which we keep theertham. Light the lamp and agarbathi. I dont know any slokam, so i just pray for few minutes in general. Keep the kum kum and do a namaskaram, if at i find fresh flowers me or my husband offer it without fail. Every tuesday & friday we clean the lamp and pictures and apply new manjal and kumkum.In india i used to the temple daily early in the morning before 6.30 and start the day's breakfast with abhisheka prasadham. But after coming we are able to go only once in 10 days or once in a week. It gives us lots of pleasure and peace when we visit the temple.

Dear lalitha,
I came here just now.Read your reply.I feel when you do something good whole heartedly,keeping the welfare of others or helping a person who needs help,showing affection to elderly people even helping a kid or a senior person cross the road it is puja enough.God will happily lap it up.The elaborate pujas help us ,I feel to get into the right mood for prayers.We ring the bell so that no other unnecessary,unsavoury words are heard.
So I feel the if our heart is good,then whatever makes you feel good is ok,there is no hard and fast rule in doing puja.
