Dear Devika Chechi,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts here !! Wonderful to know that we belong to the same category !! Sure enough, once it's time for lunch, I switch on the TV/of course laptop is always on.

Other wise, it is just me, my DH and sons..who love to watch TV during lunch/dinner time.

Back home in Chennai, when we all sit together to have food...the conversation continues for hours on end..well beyond dinner time...so TV takes a backseat.

Cheers
Krithika

Generally we have different times for lunching ,Theres no fixed lunch hour for me ,but whenever it is its essentially in front of the idiot box.I know its bad , but yet thats what i do.

Actually these inanimate objects consume most of my time, TV, PC , Mobiles, i pod etc etc....

Well of course when the entire family's together (Mom , bro , sis et al)then its a proper dining table , chatting affair, a prolonged one that goes on and on for some time.

Love,
Devika

Dear Suni,

It's great that you have food at the table....that's a good habit.

Of course, watching our favorite movies/shows during lunch/dinner with our children, makes that a wonderful time !

So, does that mean you have to pick up your kids back home for lunch and drop them? Or do they come by school bus? Double job for you then...here my children have breakfast and take lunch with them to school. So they are back in the late afternoon.

Count me in...nowadays..me too...browsing IL when I am having food. Especially when I am alone in the afternoon.

Thanks Suni, for stepping in and sharing your routine !

Cheers
Krithika

When my kids have school both morning and afternoon, they come back from morning session to have lunch that time, I feed them while they watch cartoon that too mostly when my hubby is not at home , so that they eat very quickly to catch their school bus for afternoon session ...

I very rarely eat infront of PC only when my hubby is in Afternoon shift, as my kids would have had their dinner very early by 7:00p.m. and I will eat lonely ... So, I better sit infront of PC (IL ) and eat while browsing ...

Hi Jithiks,

Interesting topic yeah!

I like to watch TV while eating be it lunch / dinner and of course my husband too likes watching TV while having his food. Since its a dining cum hall in our house, we sit and eat in the dining table and watch TV simultaneously.

My son doesn't watch TV programs instead watches his favorite movies / songs/ rhymes in the DVD. At times we insist that he shouldn't get into the habit of watching movies and having his food cos he might get addicted to this habit. In that case i need to tell him some stories..That's how it goes in our house.

Absolutely agree with you for watching news and sports. Sure, we wouldn't want to miss them. Interesting to note that you watch cartoons with your family.

Does that mean you have your dinner in front of the TV everyday ?

And yes, the laptop/PC are always on and rush to it whenever I am free !! As you rightly pointed out, window for Indus ladies will always be open..even when I am working on other stuff. :)

Cheers

Hi Krithika,

Music channel will be on most of the time...either tamil or hindi....so what if they play the same old stuff again and again......
Besides that I watch the news....and cricket......

Here only myself and my DH.. we get to have only dinner together. we plonk ourself in front of the TV ...nevermind which channel..something or the other will be going on and we will be chatting and eating.
We too hardly use the dining table..will sit in the floor and eat .....spread newspaper over the carpet and sit....easy to clean no...just fold and dispose the newspaper...carpet too remains tidy....
When I am alone...I will do the eating by sitting anywhere and everywhere..
In India we all sit together in a particular place...no TV in that room.

bye

Dear Krithika,

My kids goes and comes in school bus, but I got to pick them from the bus-stop where the school bus comes ... The bus-stop is quiet opposite street to our street so, sometimes I go by walk so that they take their cycle to drive to bus-stop else by CAR that too only during rain and winter ... Even though, they have canteen in school my hubby prefer them to have lunch at home ... may be later they can choose their choice to eat my bad cooking or in canteen ...

Regards, Suni ...

Dear Krithika
TV bug has entered in our ciculation with no proper treatment .
I personally dont want to open TV before evenings but when my daughters are home it is a different matter they take their trays & eat sitting in front of TV.
Dinner we usually 95 % times have in front of TV.
But when it comes to Cricket matches whatever it is Test matches or One day or 20-20 my dear husband wudnot budge from in front of TV weather it is breakfast or lunch & dinner we have to serve him right there.

Hi Nandhu,

Of course, there are no set rules...especially in this case ! Same pinch here...TV will be on..since children will be playing games (Xbox) or watching shows...

Glad to know that you also belong to the same category as most of us here !!

Cheers
Krithika

Weekdays lunch if I am working off client's then its mostly with them.. so no surfing of any sort.. if working remotely.. then obviously both my TV and surf will be in full pace ;)

Sunday's I usually make a good meal.. so I would want to relax, chat and have food.. sleep for a couple of hours .. dinner will be back with TV ;)
