Default Do you always complain about your work & the salary you get

This guy here is a Coolie (Luggage carrier) at bus station Bangalore, Kalasyapalya bus stop (City market) who usually carry luggage to/from the bus. As per one of my friend's advice, we understand that of late Volvo busses carry 2 wheelers as well from place to another (Interesting na?). Please try out next time.

Please take few seconds to think how they carry 2 wheelers to the bus?

Most of the times they carry it in the box located under the bus…and if the box is full some times they carry the vehicle to top of the bus.

Few facts:

Weight of the Pulsar 150 CC is around 150 kg

The cost of the Volvo side glass cost about 20-30K

The cost of the vehicle…??

After seeing the above effort that he has made do you guys know how much is he charging?? Just Rs.20/-

Does he deserve just 20???

Dear Daffodil,

A wonderful blog and some lovely pics. You took out the pics ? Great.

Well if he is asking 20/- it ok.I have spoilt so many workers byincreasing their salaries without their asking me, and expecting that they will work better for me, but they leave me fast.

I will write a blog on this subject as I have a lot to say.But if he asks 20 pay him that much, don’t pay less or bargain, as his price is a bargain in itself.Dont feel guilty. Our needs and his needs differ and he is happy if he gets the 20/- that he asks.

Kamalji,

Thank you for you feedback.

The only motive behind posting this message was that we beings are never satisfied..
human tendency.

Everyone just keeps on cribbing abt their workload, payscale etc..Take a moment & compare the person in question's situation.

I find it really scary this he must be going thru it plenty of times.. each day to earn his bread & butter.

We need to thank God that we are not in his shoes.

Kamalji.. It must be hard to get an employer like you who understands the needs of his workers well. Wish for more employers like you.

P.S. I do recall somewhere u had written that you have/had a house in Chembur.
I too belong to Chembur.

Kamalji,

My inlaws stay at Chembur - Collectors Clny.. We travel once or twice a yr depending on our office leaves.
I've been here only for 2 yrs.. might settle back in Chembur in a couple of yrs time.
Diamond Garden is one sure hotspot now.. with Barista, Astoria & other such joints

Hi Janavi
Nice article. Taking the bike on top of the vehicle itself is a risky job and such a hard work just 20 looks very cheap. This is really a news in case something happens to the glass window and so many scratches on the vehicle all for Rs. 20?????????????

He is worth every paisa that he asks for.

Atleast better than the beggars at the amar mahal and other signals at Chembur. If you ask them "Kaam karoge" they say time nahi hain.

Hi Daffodil,

Feel very sorry for this coolie. Rs. 20 is a way too less for the work he is doing.

Most of us bargain with these kind of people and pay more for the things got at big shops and malls even though we feel that the price is high

Hi Aruna,

I too agree with you.

It sure is risky & strenous at the same time.

He is risking his life as well with such a weight overhead.

Hey Roopa,

U seem to be familier with Chembur as well..

Yes, certainly better than the beggars & eunuchs at signals who are looking for quick money.
