Dear Queeny,

Thanks for writing in. Yes i guess its a curse for a wife to watch her loved one pass away in front of her.
But donating Kumars eyes was the best thing Sanjana could do.In those eyes Kumar continues to live and it was Gods way of putting Nayana into her life.
Sometimes in life you never know which way the show is going but being prepared for it is very important.Hence it would be really very good if people consider donating their eyes, when they are here,so that someone could benefit when they cease to be .
Love,
Devika

When God takes away something precious he gives back too something precious. I think that is wat Sanjana has experienced.
Kumar's life going right in front of her eyes might be such an horrible time, for her to recover from, In one way this great soul has filled her life with happiness.
It is so sad to learn that the whole family of the kid is no more.
Great she could agree to donate kumar's eyes to this girl and still have kumar and nayana with her.
Beautiful story dear.............

Dear Sir,

Blessed am I to have your auspicious presence here!!.
I would consider my life worthy if i do get an opportunity to spread the awareness of donating sight.
I have pledged my eyes and let me tell you how it happened. I was travelling with a friend and her daughter. The daughter aged 4 years was suffering from blindness. We were in a cab and it was Diwali time .Just as we passed through we witnessed a spectacular display of fireworks and i instinctively told,'Wow look at that its so beautiful." My friend agreed and very meekly her daughter asked me ,"Whats it Maasi?" The way she asked and i felt so helpless that i couldnt explain, she had never seen lights, colours. I was moved to tears and couldnt control myself. I wound up the windows of the cab then realised it wouldnt help. What would help this doll and many like her was donating the eyes.
The next day I pledged my eyes and was very relieved of the burden that i had carried from the previous day.

Sir, I am very honoured of the fact that you are proud of me .I dont think I could have ever asked for anything more.

Love,
Your Mol.

A truly touching story and a socially relevant one too. While Eye Donation has become a common thing now, statistically the donors are a very negligible percentage. People continue to think that the dead must be buried or cremated in tact. Many think that the soul would be rendered blind if the eyes are removed from the dead body!
More than Eye donors, there is a great demand for other vital organs which can be harvested from the Brain dead. These organs can give a new lease of life to terminally ill patients particularly those with a renal failure. Cadaver transplants are now legal in India but many are unaware of the same.
A major center (Sri Ramachandra Research Medical College And Research Center) undertaking cadaver transplants in the last 6 years has had a brain death conversion rate of 19% (30/159). In this institution the ICU staff have been sensitized to the issue of brain death and organ donation. The number of fatal road traffic accidents every year in India is constantly rising and averages at about 8,500 per year. At any given time there are 8 to 10 brain dead patients in different ICU's in any major city of the country. There is hence potentially a huge pool of brain death donors available in India.
Stories such as The Adopted Vision would create awareness of this greatest gift that the dead can give to the dying-A new lease of life.
I am proud of you for having a written a story that has great social relevance, my Mol
Sri

Dear Devika,

This story too has found its way to the FP of the month! But then, any wonder?
Reading your 'Adopted Vision' will leave everyone with blurred vision because it is so moving and pulls at the heartstrings.
With this, you have served a double whammy Devika. Not only do we get to read a lovely story, our conscience also gets a jolt and moves one to do something worthwhile when still alive and healthy.
Thank you for this worthy vision.

L, Kamla

Dear Devika, Wonderful story! Not only shows the importance of Organ Donation but also the selfless act of adoption too. You have a way of writing heart warming stories. Waiting for more from you.

Another sensitive story from your pen Devika !

Not many people hve the courage to go in for organ donation.

Reminds me of the saying we have here in OZ " Leave your organs here. Heaven knows we need them here."

Regards,

Corallux

Dear Aishu,

Thanks Sakhi for writing in. I am glad you found the story touching. And I am so very honoured you fnd it worthy of nomination for the FP.
Aishu this is a subject that has always been close to me. Having worked for it I needed to weave a story through which i could express it better rather than merely sounding preachy. Glad you liked it.
Hey by the way buddy whats happening on our prank front.??

Love,
Devika

Dear Devika,
Wonderfully written story! Your story not just insitigates us to give organ donation a serious thought but, in fact, inspires us to take action.

This topic is very close to my heart. Me and my family (parents and siblings) have pledged to donate all our organs. When I first moved to the US I did the same thing here too.

Well, on a lighter note I was wondering which country will get my organs when my time comes? Because I have pledged them in both places - in India when I was very young, in middle school. In the US after I came here as an adult! Well, as long as they are used for a good cause, no worries about who gets them.

I loved the narration.
