Default Brag

Many of us praise others when they have done some good work or have achieved something difficult. But there are a few who praise themselves or in other words, brag about what they have done. My husband’s boss belongs to the 2nd category. He always praises himself about what he has done for the company. If his senior is on a visit to Mumbai, then he does this even more. It sounds as if no one else could have done the same thing. Of course, there are times when he encourages his subordinates but that is only to extract more work from them. He also has a habit where if something is done by someone else, it is wrong but the same thing done by him is right.

On my recent visit to Delhi, I came across a lady who also brags about whatever she does or has done. She is a PA and yet sounds as if the company itself has progressed because of her.

There is a limit to everything. In a company, each one has a duty to perform and so there is nothing special if you do your job. Same thing holds true in a family. A Father might say his came up because of him. But that is his duty.

So, just do your duty & don’t brag.

Pls share your experience

Hi,

My answer is " நிறை குடம் நீர் தளும்பாது. குரை குடம் கூத்தாடும". If u didnt understand " Fully Filled pot does not spill (literally). Empty vessels make the most noise".

Dear Kripa,
I should say 'empty vessles make more noise'.I have a colleague who amkes it sound as if the palce runs becuase of him and has made himself out to be martyr of sorts. He does not want to accept that I do equal or more work than him. He is respected in peer circles only because he works here, not for who he is.
Wish realisation strikes sometime!!!!

Dear Kripa,
Really... i dunt know if this post from you is god sent to me - to let out my frustration on this very topic ! First of all Thanks for that.
Like Janani says, I have a collegue who thinks the entire project runs on his work /productivity what so ever. For a matter which any delivery manager needs to worry and should take care, this guy jumps earth to sky to create a scene in the cubicle ..just to showcase that he is doing soooooo much for the project. But, reality is he's feeling so insecure after i joined the project. He's scared that i will shine more than him or something - god knows! He brags to the utmost level if any of our managers visit us..I'm totally sick and tired of this guy!

Dear Saikripa,

Bragging indicates inadequacy in that person. It's a sort of complex. Compensating for something that which disturbs them. kanaka
