Default Do we recognise our intelligent populatio?

Call it a sunday reflection. Inspiring note is the karanataka election.

Often we are made to believe that our vote is precious.I thank the politicians for making us feel we are the king makers.

But they seem to conveniently ignore a genuine plea from the public-Please give us a chance to show our disappointment with all those candidates appearing in the ballot paper.
Do we get the option to say NONE OF YOU? Why agree with someone when we disagree with all of them? Only this kind of alternative can give the politicians a true picture of their standing and public feeling. . Presently many vote to for a "Better crook among a bundle of crooks. How about we forming a forum to express our resent against such unhealthy trends.
I find no where the intelligentia has any say. The lower strata of the society rules the roost followed by the average middle class. Pl.comment. kanaka

I HAD WRITTEN ABOUT THIS KANAKA,
NOT ONLY NONE OF THESE BUT A CHOICE SPACE TO POST OUR OPTION TOO, RECENTLY TOI CONDUCTED THE LEADER AND MR MISHRA CAME OUT SUCCESSFUL BUT HE IS FOR PRIME MINISTER CANDIDATE THEY SAY,

we should had people who are educated in economics of political subjects with a good high percentage score of marks,
like mr.seshan brought about the id card and it is so useful now, we want people with grit to bring about the better change.
with our immense power in all fields if we had a leader who saw to it that all things were done well instead of pocketing we would lead the world like those yore years when the west stole many of our talents and left us barren giving a complex that we have no brain and the drain..

wake up call is needed,no use giving four candidates with fresh face and only thing that comes to mind is, oh! now the new one to linch us and make money..sunkan

Kanaka Dear, we voters are made a fool of in every election.

The amount of bribes, gifts that change hands make us question if Democracy is up for sale.

The last time I went to vote in India, I had a bad experience.

I was in the queue to cat my vote. A Lady in front of me claimed to be me! I was shocked. I produced my drivers Licence & passport whereas She has nothing to prove her identity. When I wanted to make a complaint, I was asked by the presiding officer not to as I would get into trouble with the powers.

Imagine my anger, I somehow voted & came out of the voting booth in anger. The police outside dismiss it as : Hota hai. Kuch nahin kar sakte hain.

That's it. I never voted again.

Regards,

Corallux

Dear corallux,

Yes our elecetions are just a mockery. Such manipulations are very common these days. Last time our names were out of the electoral list. For the election before that I could vote.
You know Goa is a place if given a chance there will be election every alternate day. Alway a fractured mandate. kanaka

Dear Sunkan,

I had a lot of appreciation for Seshan as Election Commissioner. But he made himself a laughing stock by contesting the election on Congress(Am I right) ticket/ Where were his principles then? He compromised with those very same party he had fought tooth and nail. I mean against all corrupt people irrespective of party lines.
Down the line there was some dilution on his principles. OFCOURSE his Voters ID Card is a milestone. Then you carry that card and find yourself out of the electoral list! Mockery of a intelligent mechanism by some unscrupulous person/s. So where is intelligence and a unique idea respected.? kanaka

kanaka,
if congress is the one way to serve people then no harm, get in and one will shine in their own mettle, when S.M.Krishna was a chief minister in bangalore wonderful in implementing many things at one go, he ordered none should build apartments without planting at least three trees, jayalalitha ordered rain harvesting a must for any plan to be sanctioned, our manmohan singh is a wonderful leader the corruption that we talk about is every where if not for narasimharao we would be in the well, his global market brought about the greatest change and today we are well exposed, so one cannot go alone, seshan may have become great if he had contested from kerala, i read about
Dr. Radha Krishnan our ex president too when one friend said he is a great leader and so on the other writes oh i know he ill treated his wife so much harrassing and so on, great leaders are marred with something or the other, the inside story is never out, and the outside story is given by the media so how much do you appreciate, only when you get a close encounter of these people one comes to know the truth behind all those slandering..

i remember once when i took chitra for a role in malgudi days to the settings, and they wanted that she miss her school for six months which was not my idea of acting, as she was too small and she had speech problem that is late speech, but here this is not the point, during that time shanker nag and the mumbai lady priya tendulker i hope i got it right the sir name the media report both having a great affair and poor thing his wife is left alone and all those gossip.

when i went to set i see all three that is arundhati, shanker nag and his toddler girl all along playing together a wonderful scene indeed, and of course mr R.K.Narayanan in an easy chair, by luck i got to chat with him...so life is not what is being projected but the inner story is something more enlightening and we cannot ban a leader due to the media exposure...sunkan

Dear Sunkan,

You don't seem to see my point. I mentioned that anything which is creative will never be recognised. Didn't I mention Seshan's idea being thrown into winds.

Then people in such high places, and a person like him should not stoop down to the level of a street politician. This is slightly off the debate. I mentioned this as part of my reply and not as continuation to my thoughts.

I have no interest to delve into the private life of any individual.
My point of discussion was that an average citizen does not get an opportunity or the present system does not give us a platform to express our displeasure to the listed candidates.
Again I don't understand or rather know the way by which we can suggest a candidate of our choice. Hope I got you right?

All politicians have their own agenda. When the entire intelligentia of the country shouted from house tops about Indira Gandhi's Emergency, the common man was much relieved. In Bombay trains were running in time. Why Mumbai alone, I must say in many places. Govt. servants were very punctual. But this did not justify her action. End does not justify the means.

I repeat we need a mechanism which will appeal to the intellect of intellectuals, for they will always be in minority. Majority is a crowd. On many occasions it was the minority which had set trends, have brought changes- constructive changes in the society.
(Politicians are clever enough to offer things which has mass appeal. ) So a kind of political system which will allow us to say None of You is the need of the hour. Hope you got my point. kanaka

i also meant the same. none of you should leave a slot to suggest a name,at the bottom of the voting machine how wonderful it would be then people wont vote for BJP or other alternative alone, may be we could bring that person who is very sincere to work for us, any way BJP leads and i know cauvery water is around the first round to be clashed on, bangalore is a happening place, i meant all what u said, sorry..but this is what i could say...sunkan
