| Dear Sowpar, Thanks to Devika who nominated this piece for FP, I got lucky enough to read it. I would have kicked myself if I had missed this!! And I will tell you why... First of all, where is that hand of your's ? I need to shake it because I have exactly the same predicament as you!! Yes gal, we are the Sisterhood of Small Feet Fraternity. But take heart, I have lived with my feet for much longer than you and have got through many roads, beaches and parks and whatnots! In my younger days, I ofcourse did not talk much about it for the fear of being called Vaman or Stuart L! True that my feet too did not catch up with my years and I began to wonder why I could not find those fashionable sandals that all my friends wore in my size till the truth (or feet) dawned upon me! For a long time, I sort of wore a size bigger than mine and somehow floated through them. Like your's my hubby too took personal interest in finding the right and stylish shoes for me. He thought I was not looking at the right places till he realized that the right places were also the expensive ones! But at least for a few dollars more (those days, it was pounds), I did find some cute pairs in the famous Oxford Street of London. That my shoes cost more than my whole outfit was another matter altogether. And till about 4 years back, believe me, I hoarded almost all the pairs of shoes, boots and sandals beating Imelda Marcos at her own game! To this day, I have a shoe fetish..If I see a pair of shoes that fits me, I buy them irrelevant of the fact I need them or not. Thought being, I found them in my size, so may as well buy as I may not find them when I want..huh! So much so, even my daughters can spot a pair of shoes for me when they see them! Today, I can safely say that I am well 'shoed' !!! So Sowpar, not all is lost, if you look around thoroughly enough (on line too), you will find not one, but plenty before that glue wears off......Believe me, I should know:)) L, Kamla PS: So very well written with so much humor, loved it! ![]() |

| Dear Sowparnika, I enjoyed reading your thread. You have written about an issue that most people face,in your own racy style.Forunately I dont have a problem eventhough my feet are also smallI have found some Dr shoul or something which I find to be good, even for walks. My husband has a problem finding a pair of walking shoes. So when I accompany him on his shoe hunting trips I normally carry snacks or lunch box with me,I dont eat out much, with water bottles and plenty of patience. Avery nice write up ,my friend. All the best, dear. love mithila kannan

| Sowpar, A very humourous write-up but it shows how you take things, as it is... This one reminded me of my hunting for a ring...7 years back, my grandma asked me to buy a elephant-hair ring....(don't compare my picture now with that....huge difference)...we literally hunted for it...but alas the smallest size didn't even fit my ring finger, atlast we had decided to buy it and tied it with thread in layers to fit in... sriniketan

| Dear Sow, You can make even shoes appear humourous.HAHA.Good one. I never have probs, size 9 or 10 will do for me.Also we are 4 brothers, 3 of us have the same size. One of them, has at least 2 dozen shoes, branded from all pats of the world. And since i dont shy from wearing second hands of hius, i get free seconds from him, just a few months worn and he tires of tjhem.Saves me a lo of money, so i hardly buy any.Humility in accepting seconds pays u know.HAHA. I think u should pad up yr feet to fit into larger shoes. Regards.kamal |

| Dear Sowparnika, That was a very humorous write up. Like they those in trouble will know the pinch of it. I have the same problem and wish India has 6 1/2 and 7 1/2 shoe sizes. I think it a few days even my daughters will overtake my feet size.So do not be disheartened, you are sure to find a pair you can wear and like too!!! Like Kamla here has said do keep stocking them so that you need not look for them when they give way!!! P.S. My shoe size is a closely guarded secret so than I can escape pals and others from poking fun at me.
