Girlfriends!!

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea andvisiting her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, aboutthe responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, themother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned aclear, sober glance upon her daughter.Don't forget your girlfriends," she advised, swirling the tea leaves tothe bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you get older. Nomatter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love thechildren you'll have, you are still going to need girlfriends. Rememberto go places with them now and then; do things with them. And rememberthat "girlfriends" are not only your friends, but your sisters, yourdaughters, and other relatives too. You'll need other women. Womenalways do.
What a funny piece of advice,' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I justgotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now amarried woman, for goodness sake, a grownup, not a young girl who needsgirlfriends! Surely my husband and the family we'll start will be all Ineed to make my life worthwhile!'But she listened to her Mother; she kept contact with her girlfriendsand made more each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, shegradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she wastalking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteriesupon a woman, girlfriends are the mainstays of her life. After 50 yearsof living in this world, here is what I know about girlfriends:
Girlfriends bring you chicken curry when youneed help.
Girlfriends keep your children and keep your secrets.
Girlfriends give advice when you ask for it. Sometimes you take it,sometimes you don't. Girlfriends don't always tell you that you'reright, but they're usually honest.Girlfriends still love you, even when they don't agree with yourchoices.
Girlfriends laugh with you, and you don't need canned jokes to start thelaughter.
Girlfriends pull you out of jams.
Girlfriends help you get out of bad relationships.
Girlfriends help you look for a new apartment, help you pack, and helpyou move.
Girlfriends will give a party for your son or daughter when they getmarried or have a baby, in whichever order that comes!
Girlfriends are there for you, in an instant and when the hard timescome.
Girlfriends listen when you lose a job or a friend.
Girlfriends listen when your children break your heart.
Girlfriends listen when your parents' minds and bodies fail.
Girlfriends support you when the men in your life let you down.
Girlfriends help you pick up the pieces when men pack up and go.
Girlfriends rejoice at what makes you happy, and are ready to go out andkill what makes you unhappy.
Times passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Love waxes and wanes.
Hearts break.
Careers end.
Jobs come and go.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Men don't call when they say they will.
BUT girlfriends are there, no matter how much time and how many milesare between you.
A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
Ladies, dont ever forget to keep in touch with all your girlfriends, they are always there when you need them.

A beautiful advice from the Mother. I agree with girlfriends.........I have one from college days, though we dont meet very often but we still know and feel for each other. With IL I don't have any dearth of GF (read as girlfriends).

Wonderful.Let me convert the girlfriends to boy friends, inmy case.

When my daughter got married, all my friends with their familes gave a nice party for my daughter and son in law when they came down a few months later.

Friends are good, u can share secrets, business ideas, and help one another.What we friends talk to each other, somethings we cant even tell wife, like business worries, money managment etc.We learn for each other, and are there for each other.

I have vast friends, good friends, and i have met some very good friends from blogs, whom i have met and shared a wonderful time.

Thank you all for appreciating this article. When I read this I too felt that this person - Girlfriend is a necessity in life for any woman. Not just for the sake of friendship but for life itself to go on in a sane way. I remember a phase when I didnt have any friends and was feeling very lonely and even thought maybe something was wrong with me. Slowly I opened up and now I have plenty of them.
And after 5 years of marriage, I recomend a girlfriend for every married women. Its compusory!! Its a necessity rather than a luxury, I would say...
