Hi Brinda
A nice topic i too agree that the kids should know the financial situation of the family whatever it is. They should learn the value of money, how to handle it, with what difficulties we earn this and how to spend it has to be thought by the parents. We should allow them to work during holidays and make them earn they own pocket money too sometimes this will teach them to value the money. As this will be they hard earned money they will know how to spend it.

Hi Brinda,

In this case the father needs to be blamed. Not even the mother cos her mother might have been warned by her father not to disclose the financial issues to their daughter. The children should be aware of the financial position at home once they reach a certain age. If the parents feel that this is the age for their children to be aware of the financial situation at home, they should share it with their children and make them aware. Children learn from the elders. Only if the parents are open and frank will the children follow the same attitude with their parents. Its good in many ways.
