Default you think some proverbs will soon become extinct?

hello

A stitch in time saves nine…
Not any more?
My BILs triplets all girls had a loose fitting blouse. I said perhaps we can alter this with a little trimming here and there and the blouse will fit fine. You think so perimma they said. do let us know how and we will ask our mom to do it. Now why should you ask your mom I said you will do it here and I will guide you… oh no perimma only amma knows how to stitch we don’t…!! and they were not interested in learning it either… just wondering and my father insisted we stitch all the skirts and blouse that had a little tear or button missing…
This proverb that went about mending relationships also do not matter all in the name of no time ….or false pride.

A rolling stone gathers no moss
Now who has the time to go scrubbing moss? Children don’t know how to scrub a tile or two let alone gather moss…someone said…I said oh no the proverb means if ...…she didnt take her eyes off the the tv serials…escape..

A place for everything and everything in its place…you think its called a home…oh no…a home is when everything is lying around and at reachable distance…

Charity begins at home…well this was mainly meant as whatever good you want to do start from home…there are quite a few neighbours and relatives doing `seva’ `service’ at sai baba ‘s place and temples while their near and dear ones like mil/fil oh yes and husband/wife too at the mercy of some kind soul.

Hi Satya, a quite intriguing question! Though your question comes out as a satire towards the changing times, it is surely something for us to think about. I agree with you. Some proverbs and sayings may be extinct in lieu of changing cultures, traditions and people's ideology and adaptations to the changing times. Some proverbs will be extinct with some languages that are being used less and less everyday, driving to the extinction.

But I believe that the sayings and proverbs conveying the truths of life will never fade away and that they will be used over and over again immortally.

hello venus

ya as you say
the proverbs
may change our way
with mordern trends

like
an apple a day
will keep the doctor away
today....
an apple a day
will make your doctor
coming your way
(apples are grown
with artificial fertilizers
pesticides, sprayed with chemicals
irradiated...and soon genetically
monitored...)
wonder if he will have anything to say
except dont take an apple a day..!!

hello aruna

that sure was a fast reply
a stitch in time
will only take time
as new ones are new
and definitely more new
relationships to mend?
oh there are so many new
friends so why bother
about old relationships too

True sathya,
Many are out of our memory too, just like what I am experiencing now...will come out with more proverbs 'out of fashion', later...
but do you know that some proverb are mistakenly coined in their due course, that will be interesting too... I will come back with that too tomorrow...

Dear Sathya,

Nice to go through this post.
Well I guess with the way things in relationships stand nowadays, the proverb: Absence makes the heart grow fonder shall soon disappear and would be replaced by Out of sight out of mind!!

Love,
Devika

Here I come Sathya...
1. The face is the index of the mind....but for actors???
2. Each bird must hatch their own eggs....do they do that...we have surrogate mothers...
Even 'koel' doesn't hatch its own eggs....
3.Birds of the same feather flock together.....is it??? then why war going on?????
4.Blood is thicker than water........that's is why war is seen and blood flows like water
Blood is cheaper than water.....
5. Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth......looking at today's situation it is the violence that inherits the earth.
