Default To Overhear or Not to

Does it appear to everyone that people talking in a cell phone appear to be talking louder than usual! Yesterday we were shopping for groceries and all of a sudden I hear this.. "No I said NO you cannot eat that.. you know its not healthy for you.. I dont like it when you dont listen to me..I expect you to listen to me. wait now.. I'll be home in 2 minutes"...
I walked down my aisle where I was shopping and up the next aisle..
and there I saw.. "This big woman talking into her cellphone..or should I say talking into a loud speaker". Now I know some of her lifehistory and the fact that she was controlling her husband while she shopped for icecream!.
Why do these people do this to us?
Next we were going through the vegetable section and there we had to listen to some different type of conversation. The poor man didnt know how radishes looked so whoever was on the other side went about explaining..And we had to listen to more than we wanted to.. so we moved. I am thinking that the talk was louder because we had to hear one side.. as opposed to two people talking near you. This matter of overhearing does not stop there too.. we have had to hear couples fight over the cellphone.. which is really too rude and we dont have to be put up to it. Really why dont they fight in person.. its also no fair for people to do it over the phone..in public..

Then there is the matter of the annoying ring tones.. people have so many fancy ring tones and some are really annoying.. and then we have to wait for them to search through their bags to locate it..and we have to listen to these annoying tunes meanwhile.. And coming to teenagers .. they seem to do so much more on the cell phone with text messages, listening to music.. sometimes even conversation seem to take a back seat!
What I personally find very annoying is that when I call someone they will tell they cannot talk ! So why did they not let it go through to the answering machine.. It would have been easier that way too..
In hospitals.. these things should be banned. Its like some people are inseperable from thier cell phones..
Probably the worst thing some people do is take the phone when you are standing right there and go on talking . It would make sense if they would hang up and not treat you like a dummy.
Its not like you have to pick up the phone everytime it rings. WHY? You might not believe it there was a time when people did exist without having to get in touch with each other all the time:)

AC,
What you have pointed out here is what happens everywhere, wherever the cell phone is in use...true to the point they shout like anything....this is not overhearing...it is called 'imposed hearing' ..whether you like it or not...
I heard a comment somewhere that we would be to see a person talking while they are walking and wonder whether he/she is 'nuts' talking to themselves or whether they are talking over their cellphones..

There are times when these kind of inventions were absent and people were in touch through family and friends, mails,etc..
I think they had a lot of time then to do many things that we are amazed to see how did they do that and we don't have time even to do some of the basic works...

Dear Ac mam,
I too face this kind of situation at office everyday from my neighbour
This person belongs to a different country & obviously speaks his own language.
But, the problem is he has a shrill voice & I feel like taking a break from my seat, when he gets a call.
Another irritating or rather disrespectful incident ....
The other day, I was visiting a bank & there were lot of customers waiting for their turn... The manager was also helping in collecting cash , since all the cashiers were very busy. It was a young lady's turn to deposit cash to the manager. He was asking her the cash & this woman was speaking over the phone & simultaneously handing over cash to him.
Now , what does she think, Is the manager not worth the basic respect to be given her kind attention? Or is the peron on the other end of her phone call so important.
If I'd been in the manager's position, I would not have entertained the lady...
I would have snapped her to finish her call & then get back to my work....
Common some one should teach manners, at some point of time to these "KIND" souls

Hi Ac
This is going on everywhere in the world today. The best way is to ignore, I know it is so loud ringtone by the noise a person automatically gets diverted to the sound of it.
Here at least I get to hear all arabic tones I have no idea if these are arabic songs or prayers as both sounds the same to me......hehehe

Dear Nakshatraa
Ofcourse she had no manners.. and also she thought the manager and situation did not warrant her time.. if you notice these women are always well dressed tooo.
