Dear Devika,

Very touching..

She started her advices with a golden one. That's the reality. It feels so good to read about great people. Thanks for giving one such opportunity to read about your mom.

Dear Devika,

That was really touching.....it must have been so hard for you all after ur dad's passing away,....that too ur mom so young.......i still can visualise ur mom the way u described with long hair and flowers and red bindi! I can understand all this since my dad passed away last year, and we told my mom not to get into all these rituals. She is 64 and my dad was 74 so its still okay....but its so sad for ur mom, at such an young age.....and that too when she can think of advising you all.....what strength and she is truly inspiring.....
Wish her Happy Mother's day on my behalf!

Dear Devika,

Very evocative post. Your mother seems to be unshakeable and able to maintain her composure in the face of a crisis.

The advice that stemmed from her rings so true, and that was a very touching gesture on your part, to reinstate the bindi on her forehead! As you said, that's how every husband would like to see his wife. It's only society that wants to see your sorrow.

Happy mothers day - you have made your mother proud!

Best Regards,

Sowmya

Dear Krittika,

Thanks for writing in dear! I already have an ode written here sometime back on Mother called Where Om ends Ma begins.
Yes my mothers bindi was her trade mark and without it ,I just couldnt see her, so I put it back, though initially my Mother resisted but after a lot of coaxing she relented and I am very happy that she did!

Wish you a Happy Mothers Day!

Love,
Devika

Dear Devika,

Lovely and apt for Mother's day. Mothers are the same everywhere. The instinct to nourish & protect is the same everywhere. That is what prompted Shri Adi Shankaracharyaji to say " I have seen a bad son never a bad mother".

My mother's advice is on the same lines as your mom's. She also told me something very practical. Not everyone is happy for you. If someone tells you something, verify.

Her words of wisdom helps. One thing she told me when I left for Oz was " Never trust a man who smiles for no reason or a woman to weeps without reason".

I had some bad experiences with Indians here. I realised the meaning of her statement..

Ma, the first word to come out of our mouths when we are born, when we are in pain & when we exit from this world.

Even divinity in various forms needed a mother to come forth.

Hats off to all the moms who watch over us with wisdom & care.

Regards,

Corallux

Chechi dear,
It was so moving to read your post....isn't it true that "God coulndt be everywhere, so he created Mothers..."
Mothers are always special, and moms like yours, more so... ito her resilence and strength, bouncing back from her loss and being there for you...
hats off to you for not making her conform to some stupidity in the name of tradition...
my regards to her....

hope you sent this one as an entry for this month's contest....

Dear Devika,

If it is from you, we can be assured that it will be a treat.
This was so very touching to read. Your mother has given you gems to live by.
I am so sorry that you lost your father so early in life. I dread to think what hardships your dear mother had to face.
But seeing how our Devika is, it is not hard to guess that she made a success of her tribulations.
Congrats for making it to the FP, once more :)
