| Dear, dear Geetha, Innai varai, ennode favourite tiffine, sevaiyakkum, kettaya? I am married in a PGT family - when I came as a new bride, sevai was made every alternate day! Ofcourse, porichukottina sevai, morkootan & pappadum. It is equally good with sambar. Soak the remaining sevai (if any) in rasavandi overnight and eat - heaven is at your feet. Once in Trivandrum, I ate sevai wth coconut milk & sugar. My friend makes tomato sevai with a hint (only) of masala. Now I use equal volumes of puzungalarisi & pacharisi - it comes in long strands. A little coconut added when grinding gives a nice aroma. In Coimbatore, a new machine called Sevai magik has come. SevaiMagik :: Automatic Sevai Cooker It costs more than Rs 3000 +. No need to say, I am highly tempted. Very breezy, but very delicious write-up, Geeth! Love, Chithra. |

I too love sevai but I prepare it sometimes that to not your traditional way my God I know it is very difficult one, as use to see one of my friend doing it traditionaal way with sevai nazhi, but I get the rice noodles from the market and make it. Ya I know it is not so yummy as home made but it is ok........haha

| Dear Geeth, I am another sevai fan..closely followed by my son. I make the batter into idly and then puzhinjufy in the Sevai Nazhi. My son (when he was 3 years old) would sit next to me, bend down and look at the idly being turned into Sevai..cheering out as.."Idly becoming sevai..ma..ma..mam.mamaa magic.." Chithra is mentioning about Magic Sevai..This made me ![]() Yes..sevai makes you very nostalgic.. Regards USHA Last edited by Ushakrishnan64 : 4th May 2008 at 07:05 AM. |

| Hi Geeth! That was a very wonderful writeup on the making (cum eating ![]() As many ILites had written here, took me back to my days of youth... Me and my brother were the ones who used to help my mom make it using the 'sevai-nazhi'.... Last summer, when I had taken my sons to my parent's place, they enjoyed playing this role helping 'patti' make delicious 'sevai'. Saw the link given by Chitra Mam. mmm ... very tempting.... have anybody used it? Any feedback on the product? Anyway! Thanks for the nice piece of writing! ![]() Cheers! | hello geet it was oommmph mmmmmm and ooomph by father/ brother or bil at our place my father just loved sevai it was traditionally prepared and served in my marriage reception..different varieties too.... the traditional recipes and sure great taste.. ... the branded ones sure waste or may be tasty to someone who knows nothing about it... like a villager in india goes ooo hhhhaaa about a pizza corner at his place.... (nalla varattu rotti kettiya..!!) enjoyed the scene where everyone rushed to get more marks....than sevai...think we can try this with todays kids? sathya |
