Default Was I justified in my actions?

Hi All

Just ten minutes ago I witnessed the animal instinct in human beings.

My daughter and me go for evening walk everyday in Univ. campus.

As we were nearing home, we saw few boys armed with lathis running breathlessly and blood thirsty for a boy . The poor boy appeared totally bloddless out of fear. All of the sudden this boy fell down and the boys following him lost all humanity and started thrashing him left and right.

There were four ladies following me. We all rushed to his rescue. I caught hold of a boy to prevent him from hitting the poor fellow. As I caught hold of this boy, the other one aimed lathi at me.I shouted at the top of my voice and those ladies also. In the mean time many other men(students who didn't have the courage of intervening) also came and these boys fled.

If I would have been hit by the boys, many people including my family members would have told me that it was very foolish of me to jump into someone else's affair and I shouldn't ahve taken such a risk and kept out of it.

I did what I should have done as a humna being. I did that thinking that whta should I have done, if that person would have been my son or my brother.

What do you feel what would have been a wise step, to think of family first or to think of fellow human being.

I know that I am everything for my daughter. Should i have kept quite and walked away or stood at a distance,as my life was important for my daughter or what I did was right?

Looking forward to your responses.

Ansh

Hi Ansh
A nice write ...........How many of us out there go out of the way and help fellow human being, i too might think twice before doing it as these guys have lathi and all, but looking at the little boy might have done the same, I can tell this clearly only when i come across one.............you are couragous to do this my dear but don't u think it is equally important to think about your family too.
I appreciate what you have done but since you are everything for your daughter so please do think about her too, if not the other family members.
Congrats superwoman.........be careful next time.

Hi Aruna

That's why I posted this experience, as when I saw that person being thrashed, I just thought of my younger brother.

So, I wanted to know, that when one is at cross-roads like this, whom should one put first the life of fellow human being or ones own life ?

I haven't told anyone at home, Its Indusladies forum only that knows about the incident.

Thanks for your views

Ansh

Dear ansh,

It was a courageous and unselfish act no doubt and merits the appreciation of all.

You mentioned there were four other ladies around too.Perhaps it would have been wiser for all of you to join and raise a hue and cry to attract the attention of more people which would ensure your safety and more so of your daughter too; it would have served a dual purpose......saving the poor lad as well as yourselves too. There is always safety in numbers when you have to tackle something as dangerous as lathi wielding lads. Anyway ,all's well that ends well !

Your presence of mind has to be admired ofcourse, but please do exercise caution in your own interest if it happens next time...no regrets later.Echoing Arunas thoughts too.

Regards,
PAULINA

Hats off to you ansh...i

What you did was really courageous...i think that we have become too selfish and that is why so much untoward things are happening around us. If there are more people like you around, i am sure there will be less notorious incidents happening as people come together to save the victim.

Here there were chances that you might have been beaten too...but what about those victims who have been knowcked down by vehicles etc...i have read many a times that a soul passed away as it didn't receive timely help...no passerby helped to take them to the hospital....where are we heading too.

Once again to you.

Keep up the good samaritan spirit.

Warm regards
Roopa.

Hi Ansh
Don't you think it is good you tell about this at home as it is always good to tell them, then letting them know from outside.........As you know such things spread fast as you have saved a child and many people want to thank you for that.

Thumbs down Re: Was I justified in my actions?

Absolutely right, if only everyone would start thinking of helping another human being in trouble without much analysis, the world would be a more pleasant place to stay.
Congrats on your sense of responsibility & spontaneity. Its warmly appreciated !

Hi Arunarc

I can't muster up the courage of telling at home, as I have only my parents and they live farway from my place of work(200 kms), I don't want to give them sleepless nights.

They will not come to know from anywhere as there has been no police complain, four more ladies were there. I just hope everythings is fine with that 20 year old boy, he was hit in stomach.

With shootout s taking place everynow and then in universities all around the world, theese studennts take beating up other students as an act of valour and get a new high. They feel they are heros.

I am not at all able to concentarte. too much disturbed by the incident.

Best wishes
Ansh

hi ansh,

very brave. good.

you have followed your conscious. may be you had the ability to face the situation.

for any other to comment on this, it all depends upon the person's nature, ability, courage and strength.
