Hi,

I agree with you, most of the cartoons seen today are of bad taste. I feel where are the good old days of tom and jerry. I think we need to wake up and do something about it. We need to be more careful while handling the children of today cause they learn things from TV that dispute our teachings.

Aqua.

Speaking of ads, the best one I've seen in recent times is Tata tea's 'JAGO INDIA JAGO' where the youngster questions the politician on his experience in running the nation. 'Desh ko chalane ka job'. Excellent concept and shows so much of social responsibility.

Ads should be on these lines.
Dear sumeru,

Aqua.

Hi Vanaja,

I think there is a right way and a wrong way of doing things not all adverts are alike there are quite a few that set you thinking like that ad about a home loan where the son puts the name board of the father thinking of how his father raised him that is right way....as you say...it is time we woke up to certain facts and set about changing them

Warm wishes,

Aqua.

Hi Aqua,

Thanks for FB on my name, yes I love sanskrit names from our mythologies and wanted one on those lines. 'Sumeru' is one such name.

Dear Kripa akka,

It is nice to know that you have read my snippet. Advt gets the messages across and the children of today thrive on commercials to ensure they get new products, thus the message they carry must be equaly important.

Warm wishes,

priya.

I know every one of us want a revolutionary change here, and anything that goes through media is like a fire and all movies, ads, soaps are culturally degenrating!!..

I read this sometime ago..

The minister of health had requested all the movie stars to avoid smoking in movies and not promote smoking ads.. but shahrukh khan, bluntly denied saying he will not do it.!!..

It can happen only in India..

My heart bleeds...

Actually on seeing the above advertisement, my nine year old son told his father that he had found a better way to escape when he scolds him. I told him that i understood from the ad that we should not buy them mobile phone or any other such things before they enter a job. see, how a small boy is getting spoilt by this ad.

The advert was about an angry parent shouting at his son for not keeping the home clean, he goes on about how the clothes are strewn all over the place and the helmet is kept in the kitchen shelf and etc… when all of a sudden this boy switches on his mobile and starts listening to an absurd song which has the same beat as the shaking of his fathers head and hands. The advert was about a mobile phone company saying “youngsters listen only to what you want. You don’t have to listen to anybody else”. This left me feeling betrayed, as a teacher I must have spoken and counselled so many boys with problems, is this the way the young of today behave with their elders. We lament saying that youngsters do not listen to their parents. We even take counselling lessons on how to deal with our young. Should we perhaps give the young of today counselling lessons on how to deal with their parents and elders?

We say change is a must and is very much needed. But if this is change then where are we heading? I think it is time the advertising people took into consideration that their advertising is setting a wrong example amongst the youth of today and set about correcting their approach in targeting the young crowd.

Dear AQua
Yes I also found this ad very bad .The ad comapnies have made everything a sellable commodity & they dont want to take any responsibilty for the effect on Society in name of " fredom of expressions".
previously there was a ad Of Undies, thank GOD has been removed after objection by society.
Regards Jaishree

Hi Priya,
Thanks for bringing this ad to our attention. I have seen that ad earlier and on the first thought came to my mind how poor the father is and God only knows how many teens are already following it. .what a bad taste this ad has....

There is another ad that makes me feel bad... it is about vaccination for chicken pox and the father and mother would check the mark scored by their son at school and for every subject they ask his friend's mark too.. (I accept that comapring is bad but this is not the whole point in this ad..) he says Zero for his friend's mark in every subject and says he has chicken pox and so didnt come to school (with a winning , happiness in his face). Childen seeing this ad are mislead between being competitive and being selfish. Whenever i see these two ads i really feel for the parents of this generation (like me!!! )

Regards
Priya
