Puni,

Athe problem is, where ever u go, these days even for the lowest of the jobs, they want a MBA degree.Sad really. And ia gree the book knowledge is not enough, u have to be street smart these days, meet yr targets, but this degree iw what they ask for toi give u the job. Thanks and regards.kamal

Aruna,

Yes even today smart people make something out of nothing so right.

A person i know,he's a marriage photographer, one of the hundreds u find in every cuity, and he was telling me too much competition etc, and earnigns are miserable.

I gave him an idea i had for a long time, anmd today he is minting money, and he has no time to even talk to me, though he thanks me for the idea. This was the idea.

I told him make portfolios for the would be bride and groom. You have a small studio.Phtotgraph the bride for example in the best possibkle angles in saree, and salwar suit, good facial; pics etc.

Then phototgraph the house of the bride, the parents , the fathers business factory, if any etc.Put all this on a CD,and make a photoalbum with titles. So when a proposal comes, the parents can send it over to the boy;s side by courier, and the boys family can sit and watch the whole thing on a CD player.

This guy charges from 10,000 to 25000 /er per client./The works is max 3 days for him,no investment, just time and little buit petrol.A lot of girls ahve got good houses, and this guy is much in demand before the marriage season, and he does around 4/5 portfolios per month.

Not bad for a guy who is just matriculate.I had this idea in my mind for a long time, and told many photographers, but only this one understood the scope in it.and he is very thankful to me for it.and there is no competion to him even now.

So u dont need very much to succeed inlife i feel.

Sunkan was great, very warm hearted lady, and it is my goodfortune to have met her and her family.

Thanks and rgards.kamal

Dear Kamalji,

You seem to be churning out one good post after another which in turn gets nominated for the Finest Post of the Month!

I loved reading this one. It touched my heart on many accounts.

First of all, how nice that you and Sunkan met with your daughters. Where is the picture of this get together? Please do post it in our IL'meetings forum. I simply would love to see you all.

Your observation of that father and his economical state was very touching and made me sad. When one is young, one still has more hope as the time is on your side, but it is difficult to start all over again when old. I really pray and wish that this man finds some means to provide for himself and his daughter.

I was not aware of this Harinder Singh of Percept...Another son of fortune and hardwork. You are right, just education is not all. A person should be able to use the opportunities given to him. That is the Only Great Secret, in my opinion. That is why, it appealed to me when someone said that you should not pray for this and that, God know better and will give you what is best for you!

L, Kamla

HELLO KAMALJI,

That was a wonderful write-up, Very apt in these times when children at crossraods have a plethora of opportunities awaiting them.

I agree with you that though education is very important , its not just about everything. Whats really required is GUTS AND A VERY STRONG WILL POWER to implement it. There are thousands who pass out of Harvard business school, But how many of them actually fearlessly start a business. Its not about finance, obviously when you enrol in Harvard, youre pretty sure ,whats the next step.

You gave a fine example of Dhirubhai Ambani. My personal experience tells me that its all about smart work. Working smart is very important, more that merely working hard.

Of course I completely believe that education is very important too. Now probably the large empire surrected by Father Ambani is being handled well by Ambani Sons, due to the education.

Your write up does open doors for those who consider themselves less fortunate due to lack of required education. They can get a boost reading this since it does help you in considering various avenues through other doors.

REGARDS,

DEVIKA

Kamalji,

I agree with your thoughts on this..But as MBA aspirant we all have faced this. And I would say, objectivity will help better than emotions here.

Looking at this objectively, I would rather suggest the girl in question to take a student insetad of burdening her father.
So many of my MBA friends took loans wether for in india or in Abroad.
and this whole sad thing was handled easily. She can look for laons by Bank of India or other nationalised banks.
Institiues like IIMs etc also have financial assistance prorgram.

Kmalji,
Thanks for sharing some sharp facts abt life.Well, there are many people in their forties and fifties still struggling to make a living. As said the world is full of opportunities that too in recent days ,there are myriad of ways to earn money. It is in our hands to make the best out of it.If god shuts one door,he opens another door.So definitely everybody has a hidden talent. For one reason or the other if a person is not recognised he must not brood over it .The major part lies in analysing what suits us best.

But i would like to tell my view on my first point.A person who must really relax and take a break after fifty years or more, still running and hunting for survival is something really pitiable.I agree to it.as i said before in the early days definitely he can plan well and organise life which some fail to do so.Struggling or relaxing is in our hands atleast to some extent.

Thanks
BC

Kamalji,

Today this is the 2nd blog i came across on education.

As i discussed in the 1st blog....education has become so expensive that it is out of reach of the the middle class people to go in for any such professional course.

As regards to education and doing well in life is not directly proportional. Even i have come across so many uneducated people who are doing well and so many educated ones...who are on the roads.

I think its not just hard work alone...but fate/destiny also has a role in it and i strongly beleive it as i have come across so many such people in our circle...my own dad he is 80 but still working. Long ago he was told...that he will never be rich...but he will always lead a comfortable life. So even though he works hard still on the move travelling 4 days a week for business he dosen't have much savings. And we are 3 daughters and they have really given us good education and a good upbringing to my parents.

I wish all the best to the father whom you met at B'lore and let us help them in any way possible for him to stabilise in life.

Warm regards
Roopa.
