prestige issue

Thanks for your FB, Krish! Happy to note that your eyes are 'working well'.

It is true that 'glasses' also fall into the category of 'prestige issue' alongwith the 'walking stick'.

Eventhough i did not wear glassed till now, i am going for an appointment in 10 days.
This will be added to my 'prestige issue'.
In our house my children and my hubby wear glasses---so my daughter used to tell me that---' It is you and our pet dog, don't wear glasses at our house' please don't wear one, if at all, wear, lens', is her advice.
In their school they used to bother them by calling names such as 'four eyes'. For this reason, she didn't wear it for a year and then her eye power increased and then she wore the glasses, but now she has changed to 'lens'.

It is true, Ramya, those were childish fears, but we think of it now as such, but when we were at that stage, do we know that!

Just an alternate thinking, prevalent now a days !
If the doctor has grey hair, people think, he is back dated & is still wary of today's advancements. Ofcourse, in Chennai, he has the advantage of Kairasi, family doctor etc.
But the young (black haired?) doctor scores because, he is supposed to be updated with the latest advancement in medicine like laser technology, mini-surgery (the latest trend in Chennai, heavily advertised) etc !
My mother has more black hair than me & feels shy about it sometimes !
Since my first grey hair appeared, I decided not to dye till I die, because I wanted to grow old "graciously", never denying my age.
But Indira Gandhi's hair-dyeing added to her charm and is still talked about !

Oops if that is the case with doctors , my hubby has to dye his hair to look updated in that field, if he decided to come to Chennai to practise!

So you are growing old 'graciously' than your mom, that's nice.
Even my mom's hair is more 'greyier' than my grandma!

Sri,
I do have silver linings and I am applying henna to make them look brown. I am planning to apply henna until I get more "richer" (more silver linings). Would have been more happier had I got my grandma's genes who had jet-black hair until she was 70.

I don't think applying hair dye is bad, but we should see to it that it doesn't have any side effects, later on. Applying herbal dye, hope doesn't have any side-effects.

I always felt that the gray hairs talks about experience and wisdom... Few years back when I was 25.... I always used to feel, atleast I should have a few gray hairs, so that I will look like little experienced and all... Now... though the hair continues the same colour... but losing stock...

The most irritating thing in the world for me is shaving... I envy people, who clean shave... or had the liberty of having sexy beard... With few white hair in the mushtache... I have no option than to follow the routine... Even after that I always feel that something is wrong... The stubs which used to look good now gives a pathetic looks...

I have a friend / class mate... who has a child face even today... I envy him.... My luck...

Though I dont like to dye... I have to take care of my appearence... ...

This topic should be discussed in all the metro forums. People in city are so obsessed with their hair, one single strand of Grey hair, the whole hair is dyed, yes my friend using dye to colour your hair. The youngsters are busy colouring their hair for toeing up with the fashion. (me too). The result of the whole episode is most of us turn 30% Grey by the time we reach our 30's. one of my acquaintance colours her hair every week. The taller her elder daughter grows more the colour on her hair. She has stopped going out with her eldest daughter (15 years old) and proudly keeps trotting around with the youngest one who is 6 years old (but looks only 4 due to lack of height). Obsession to look younger has gone to the extremes of disowning her own child in social circle. Great post... good thinking... Care a damn Sri, we love you for your talent and not your hair. bye

I am not against' dying' just a thread to show my experience i had when i saw the white hair on the floor after combing my hair.
Usually we make scapegoat of elderly ones if we get 'hair' in the food and ask whether it is white or black, to be satisfied that if it is white, then it is not mine.
Nowadays i cannot claim as such!

Don't think we get 'hair' all the time in our food---just an incident i remembered here!
